Thank you for this in depth review! We are coming for the marathon in December so this is super helpful in knowing what to bring/pack for it. I had no idea there were events before and after the race, so good to know!

100%! I wish there was more Honolulu Marathon content. I know how I'll do it if I ever decide to do the HNL marathon again, though I think the 1/2 marathon or a 10K is more for me.

@@YestoHawaii Totally understandable. Marathons are no joke! We will do a video on the Honolulu one after we run it. I prefer the half marathon distance usually too haha.

Grats on finishing! I’ve volunteered for about 5 or 6 marathons, and having an elite runner coming at you full speed while you try to perfectly hand them a cup of water is TERRIFYING. Whoa, extended outro!

If someone was also planning a vacation around the event would you recommend budgeting more days before or after the marathon for activities or split 3 days before/3 days after?

I'd say 2 before & 4 after. If you stack the days at the beginning, you might not be able to fully enjoy Hawaii since you'll be resting for the marathon. If it's at the end, you might be super exhausted from the marathon. I'd say a 2/4 split works so you can do 2 days for relaxing low-key activities then 4 days after to both recover from the marathon & enjoy! 🌺
