Bayern Munchen, Real Madrid, Chelsea FC clubs are ruthless with coaches. Klopp would have been sacked by any of them. Those clubs expect immediate results. Klopp needed 4 years to bring trophies. This shows how hard and competitive is the Champions League and the Premiership. Glad that Liverpool club was patient with Klopp and it paid off at the end.

That is my biggest frustration as a Chelsea fan. Sooner or later, we are going to run out of quality managers who want to come to the Bridge. I just want someone to come in, have a philosophy, and be given the chance to implement it. We got a little of that with the first tenure of Mourinho, but the revolving door has been frustrating. A lot of us truly fell in love with Conte (remember that it was his name that was sung after winning the League), and to see him get dumped after two years of success was disgraceful.

Chelsea, Man Utd and probably even Arsenal would’ve flicked him after 24 months. Man Utd fans would even remember it took Sir Alex 5 years before the success came to them. Ikr? Idk why most of the other United fans forget that we had a terrible first 2 seasons under sir Alex and the other 3 were mediocre. What saved him was winning the FA cup. 1:08 They were not celebrating, they were simply showing appreciation to the fans for their support, that's normal in Germany and other countries, that teams go to the fans after the game, wether they won or lost and give the fans some credit, Klopp just did the same here with Liverpool. I know it's unusual in the UK but anyone with a brain could have thought by themselfs that they were not celebrating a draw with West Brom, after the game it was made clear what all that was about so it's strange that you still say they celebrated it. willful ignorance just to strengthen your point for this video?
@leerobbo924 жыл бұрын
Yep, if there's a single moment that turned everything around, it was that one. It's difficult to describe to people just how toxic the atmosphere at Anfield was at that time. The previous game at Anfield, he'd spoken publicly about how he felt alone towards the end of the game, and how as much as he understood fan's frustrations (I think we'd not come back from a losing position in over 2 years at that point), the team needed the fans to support them and help them. It was the first time a Liverpool manager had directly addressed the fans in public in a long, long time (possibly since Rafa). Lo and behold, the very next home game we go behind against West Brom: it goes quiet for about 30 seconds after their goal, but then the noise levels start to rise. Then we start to create chances, and it gets louder. Nobody leaves, and we score a late equaliser (loudest Anfield had been in months) and were unlucky to not win. He makes a point of saying thank you for listening and staying, and suddenly the fans feel like they matter again for the first time since probably 2005. Momentum built from there, good cup run and first final for the first time in years, and results start massively improving at Anfield to the point that we get Champions League football again despite a crap defence.

You say that Klopp turned Liverpool into a meme after the 2-2 draw against West Brom by making his players celebrate to the fans after a last minute equaliser, but the main reason for that was to connect with the fans as he believed that the fans are our biggest and most important weapon in rebuilding the club, and that he said he felt bewildered and lost when the fans left early during an earlier game. In fairness, Nathaniel Clyne is/was a decent right back and Kolo Toure was just old, but I take your point about Moreno & Lovren.

When Liverpool lost against Roma in 2017-2018 in the second leg of the champions league semi final, but still qualified for the final my father screamed Klopp out. Maybe a bit harsh

It's like the song says, "...we are LOYAL SUPPORTERS, and we come from LIVERPOOL! ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ!". Sure, there have been some difficult times, but right from the moment he arrived to Liverpool, people have loved the man. I guess his charming everyman personality could be a factor. Maybe the first couple of seasons weren't great in terms of results on the pitch, but the way he connected with the people, the owners noticed that and realized he's the kind of manager that brings big crowds to the stadium and sells shirts with his entertaining football style. Not only they had the patience to let him work his ideas on the team, they also provided some brilliant recruitment to support those ideas. You really have to respect the work they've done behind the scenes to allow Klopp and the squad to reach the results they're achieving right now.

Honestly, the Clyne / Matip / Lovren / Milner back line in 16/17 performed surprisingly well defensively in the league (allowed only 12 goals in the 18 matches all 4 started); the problem was 18 matches is less than half the season and it was all they were fit for (mostly Matip and Clyne being injured but Lovren missed a few as well. When any of them were out things were pretty grim (30 allowed in 20 matches).

Fun fact: The bosses of the Hamburger SV (now a second division team) sended a detectiv in 2008 (before he went to the BVB) after him to see if he could coach their team. They didn't wanted him because he was a smoker back then, he was constantly not on time (which he stated as a lie), his loose way to talk in interviews and because he had holes in his jeans (and some say because his nickname "Kloppo" showed no authority).

What's great about Klopp at Liverpool is the owners and board identified a manager willing to take on the project of rebuilding former giants and approached him with just such a proposition. His position was safe as long as he could prove he was making SOME progress. At other clubs... With less vision, he might not have lasted.

Basically you summed it up nicely. Moreno, Lovren and Clyne in defence. That was an absolute disaster with Moreno being the worst defender i have ever seen in my life. He made Karius look quality.
