No surprise as to why it's one of the oldest style suspensions around. Quite a versatile and simple design, and it works well. My next preferred alternative would be air, which didn't get tested. Hehe trucker through and through here, I drive a tractor trailer for work, and my HD pickup as my daily.

feels like the leaf cruiser's main issue was its complete lack of rebound control. I honestly feel like if it had some sort of shock absorber it would have done much better in all the tests, but especially the drop and small bump tests

To make the tests fair, every vehicle must have the same wheelbase length and the same wheels size
@ArdanZima-xj4yzАй бұрын

@Argun1001Ай бұрын
In addition, every vehicle's cargo-bed should have the same length/width, as well as the spokes of said bed being the same height. I noticed it changed a LOT throughout the vid.
@mikey111482Ай бұрын
Exactly what I was thinking. The only variables that should change are method of suspension and ground clearance. Weight of vehicle kept within a reasonable range would be nice, too.

True, but suspensions also get points for “cool factor”. I am sure the test is supposed to be fun, not fair 😊

I think the height of the payload made some of these seem less effective than they otherwise night be
@fusionwing420828 күн бұрын
That and how the payload was stacked up, sometimes the pieces were a bit off center and fell off more easily. Also i think this payload was oversized, if it sticks that far above and your going through rocky terrain, cover the payload or deliver less payload xD

Due to the bendiness of the magnets system, the suspension has friction dampening too
@TheOtherGuys2Ай бұрын
One that I've used is to have the wheel base connected to the body of the vehicle by a single long axle piece. The axle goes through some pin holes to keep it in place, but it only connects to a + hole on the ends. So, when the vehicle hits a bump, the suspension comes from the axle twisting along its length. Is that good for the piece? Probably not. But it's working, and as long as the vehicle stays balanced, it doesn't twist when it's at rest.

Chain shaker would work better if the chains were connected to two posts and not just the cab. So chain A goes from post A to cab to post B, chain B goes from B to cab to C, and so on. And then you can try a cross pattern where A goes from A to cab to C, etc. CF how suspended bridges work. Would need longer chains, or ropes, so the studs don't collide with the cab. For the magnets Lego used to make magnets (73092) and magnets holders (2607, 2609 and 2609a/b/c variants). You could make an entire video just using aftermarket magnets comparing different size of magnets and configurations and how they can be paired with more "normal" suspensions, I don't think I ever saw anyone else try magnets for suspension. Which has me thinking... Is it possible to make a levitating Lego train?

Fun to watch, but I don't get how the reliability is measured. ... Except for the one wheel that fell off and the other one that fell apart entirely! 🤣 The Boomerang Bouncer would have big trouble if its wheels were powered. In each pair, the torque of the rear wheels would pick up the front. It's like a wheelie but with far less torque because it lifts the vehicle much less. If the wheels are connected with differentials, it'll only need to pick up the front wheels of each pair a tiny bit to lose power, all the power going into the lifted wheels. It was a problem with one truck in a trucking game I played. I guess the solution is not to use differentials between each pair, perhaps using 1 diff for 4 wheels and driving the rears from the fronts with a chain or whatever.
