110mm Wheel Upgrade/Mod: Razor Kick Scooter 🛴

I watched this video after finding a Razor A Kick scooter all rusted up in the woods last weekend. I removed the rust, greased it up, and got it functioning again. When I decided to upgrade the wheels to the new 110s, I had the opposite problem where the front wheel fit no problem at all but the back wheel would hit the spring. When I moved the spring the wheel would still hit the rear axle. I then used a hacksaw and a pliers to cut and bend/break off about 1/4 inch on the top of the deck right where the rear fender is so I could push it back just enough to clear the wheel. I filed and sanded any rough edges. I then drilled new holes for the brakes about a quarter inch behind the old ones. Problem solved and it works great now. It was a pain but I had the tools for the job. It's an excellent upgrade and makes the scooter way faster for a grown up kid like me (42 years) hence making it way more fun. :) I also drilled a hole in the folding mechanism and stuck a bolt, nut, and washer into it further securing the handlebars and removed any play in them. This thing is fire now. Thanks for the video of inspiration!

Just put 110s on my A4. Advice about cutting out the plastic over the front wheel was really helpful.

Raise brake with Allen key while securing opposite end bolt with wrench. Oil the spring and give it some pops. Make sure the plastic piece is not rubbing against wheel. It does fit. Check back when you get it.

What wheels would you recommend for the Razor A2 scooter?

I am upgrading to 100's on my A3. I use this scooter to get home from school and since the max weight limit of the scooter is around 100 pounds (I am 15, about 40 pounds over the weight limit). It also doesn't really help that I ride on the street / really bad sidewalk as well. So since I am over the weight limit, the wheels keep cracking.

Now that you've had it on for a while, what do you think? Are the 110's worth it? Also, do you have a link for the ABEC7's that you're using?

Yes I think the conversion/upgrade is worth it, but others may not want to start cutting up their scooter to make 110s fit. If you like tools and tweaking stuff I'd say go for it. The link to titan_skater is in vid description. Great wheels.

proobuio unfortunately 120mm don't fit, just 110. If I had to do it again I'd get Razor A5 with 200mm wheels. Bigger wheels better cruising.

You could try looking for a fork that can fit 120mm wheels but the fork will be threadless. With the razors like that they only use a threaded fork and threaded compression system.

I don't know if I would want to get it. Seems like a lot of work just to get 10mm more, and the scooter is missing some parts. Just got the 100mm and it's all good. I'll think about it, but just doesn't seem worth it.

Gee I wouldn't do it. The A2 is a rattly little scooter. I recommend upgrading to a scooter with higher weight rating & bigger wheels.

@@p1nesap She is 6. Everything they make fot her size is pretty ratty. Ideally I would like to find a pair of air wheels that fit on it. She doesnt care about speed as much as a smoother ride.

Hey, you loosened brake with hex key, then pulled brake up to max height, then re-tightened while holding brake in position, yes?

Did the mod and figured this out: If you're not getting enough clearance, try riding the scooter and slamming the brake, which should bend the hex screw that holds the brake in place a bit more. Also, if you're trying this on a brand new A4, you need to ride the scooter and use the brake first, otherwise the hex screw will be perfectly straight and turning it won't have any effect on the brake height.
