Good stuff! I went to a 8 heat range around that 35psi level in mine. I bet that would make your timing not look as spicy on the strap too. Mine was always just before the bend. I was a little lower than you peak though. My peak timing was around 12.5, didn't change it much if any from 35psi up. I also ran into valve float at a similar level with .660s. Mine actually made 1141whp on 30psi. But higher altitude with higher correction factor also.

Timing Mark was just at the base of the strap almost to the threads. That’s when I turned her down a bit. We ordered springs but I think we’re going to focus on making it go down the track before we do the springs. I’ll get greedy snd just start throwing more boost at it lol. I’ve learned a bunch reading your posts and watching your videos! Can’t wait to see your new car out!

@@HorsepowerDepot That's awesome man! I would do the same I prefer track results over dynos lol. Then I will take mph and weight to figure out power with the wallace calculator. With my new one I am going to focus on getting it to leave right before I start really trying to throw power at it and hurting it. Look forward to updates on this one!

Why do I see so many 4.8 making more power than the 5.3 ? If you could chose between a sbe gen 4 5.3 or 4.8 which would you chose ?
@HorsepowerDepot3 жыл бұрын
I’d choose an aluminum 5.3 only because it’s lighter. The 4.8 and 5.3 will make very close to the same power. I’ve gone from a 4.8 to a aluminum 5.3 and went about a tenth faster and I think that was just from the weight savings.

A Gen 4 4.8L with gapped rings, head studs and some good MLS gaskets will make some very good numbers. They are getting pushed higher and higher on stock internals, but I would like to see what it would hold stock and without ring gap like the one in my 2011 Silverado Extended Cab 4.8L with a single 70mm turbo.
@HorsepowerDepot3 жыл бұрын
You will be fine. Too many people worry about ring gap and over look the tune when they butt rings. We’ve made over 1000 with untouched rings on a few engines. Timing is more important than ring gap.
@JustAGuy7813 жыл бұрын
@@HorsepowerDepot cool, thanks, didn't know that point. My truck is getting tuned currently, but unfortunately I am only running 55lb injectors and a single 320LPH fuel pump so I imagine I will run out of fuel before I can break 600 to the rear tires. 500-550RWHP is more than likely what it will end up with.
