I am overwhelmed... I have seen so many squares of colors called art, believing art is gone, and then I discover him. How he understands color blows me away... and how effortless and natural the traces are... I Wonder why his women never look directly at him... like if they were something beautiful out of his reach... but thats not true because they are literally in his hands... his gift is absolutely something divine.

One thing a lot of less experienced artists forget, is that painting is still drawing, because you're still dealing with shapes and proportions when applying the brushstrokes. The key to starting a painting without a line drawing, is to remember that brushstrokes are still drawing.

I don't mean to disappoint you, but in the Russian (and eastern European) art schools and universities, pretty much everybody can do this. There was a video on youtube, explaining the differences and I can confirm that, because my wife's aunt and uncle studied art in Hungary and it's a totally different level, compared to what's common in the west. They really train and drill them the old ways.

It is impressive how the close-up view shows us a series of very rough brushstrokes, which seem to be part of an abstract painting and then, the overall view, shows something else entirely. Spectacular! I've been following Vladimir Volegov for a few years and I've always envied his way of painting.

Всегда поражает,как практически из ничего,из нескольких мазков начинает вырисовываться фигура,камни,вода.. Жадно наблюдаю за каждым движением кисти,мастихина,пытаясь запомнить...И сразу так хочется заняться живописью,что называется, "руки чешутся".
