@YaYa-ke1zr8 ай бұрын
Video shows that the shooter seems more comfortable with the 147 but is good with either. Could also be a benefit that the slower tempo of the 147 allows the dot to hold its place longer. The dot is not as ‘jumpy’. I find that most shooters do well with 115 or 147 but if they are going to struggle or need to adjust, it will typically be with 124. When our range classes provide ammo, we give them 115. I prefer 147. But my guns prefer 124. So 124 it is.

@doublepiedavid89082 күн бұрын
Hot take of the day. Pistol bullets should be as light as possible for most situations. Bullets damage by shedding energy, and bullets shed velocity easier than by shedding mass. 375 ft/lb carried by a 9mm will have more effect on target than 375 ft/lb carried by a 45, because the 9mm energy will be more efficiently transferred than the 45. That said, a bullet needs to have energy to shed in order to have any effect on target at all, so 5.7 (less energy than the already weak 9mm) isn't too effective. 10mm has twice the energy as 9mm, transferred mostly via velocity without sacrificing mass, so it is likely more than twice as effective as 9mm. .357 magnum has the same energy as 10mm but more velocity based, so it is probably even more effective.

Essentially designed to be small enough to mount on handguns while being rugged enough so they can continue to stay/work while being on a handgun slide. There are a literal ton of micro reflex options on the market these days it seems like. Mounting options aren’t standardized either, just a tip there if you’re looking at getting one at any point. Just know what it’s going to take to actually mount it to a handgun.

Speer Gold Dot 124g +p is a very close second. Both of these rounds can be found in 50ct boxes for anywhere from 30-43 bucks. Good luck finding Hornady in anything bigger than 20ct boxes and when you do it's practically $1+ a round. Recoil Gunworks just had a sale on HST and gold dots. Better at distance but the heavier ammo will pack a punch closer up. The holes were bigger with the heavy ammo
@TerminalM1935 ай бұрын
Not true whatsoever. Accuracy isn't dependent on weight but rather a whole host of compounding variables like depth of case mouth, how the bullet is actually pressed into the cartridge body, the powder charge and plenty of other factors.... When it comes to accuracy though, one factor is always king and that's consistency. Every cartridge in every single box of ammunition are almost like a snowflake when it comes to comparing each and every round. The rounds within the tightest tolerances will almost always be most accurate when doing groups..... Now, when it comes to distance, as a whole 147g will be much more accurate across a much wider point of distance. If you were to graph the trajectory of both rounds on a 50 yard scale you will find that the 115g has a MUCH more aggressive curve from point A to B while the 147g will have a much more flat curve that's less aggressive. The 147g has a MUCH better ballistic coefficient because of its weight. It suffers less from both gravity and wind. Luckily these factors will hardly never matter in a real self defense scenario where 98% of the time your target is no further than 7 yards..... Even at 25 yards your point of aim / impact is almost negligible with CONSISTENT ammunition...
