Some years back my mother-in-law suffered a stroke which caused impairment to her movement, speech, chewing and swallowing. Her vision, cognitive ability, self-care ability, bowel and bladder control, however, were not affected. Her doctor advised that her recovery would be slow, if at all, and that her conditions were likely to be permanent. Despite what the doctor said she was determined to improve her condition. She made dietary adjustments, and, above all, adopted a strict exercise regimen of daily walking. Despite her difficulty in walking after the stroke, she would walk at first light, albeit slowly initially, for hours everyday. And that went on for close to a year before her condition started to show signs of improvement. By the end of the second year, the slur in her speech disappeared and so was the slight tilting of her mouth, both her arms and legs gained strength and became almost normal. And by the 3rd year, her overall condition and health had pretty much returned to normal. She suffered the stroke when she was in her mid 60's, but after recovery she went on to live till her late 80's. I hope this is worthy of sharing with you and your family. Best wishes and warmest regards to your Papa and all. P/S: One thing worth mentioning i think is that despite suffering from high total cholesterol level (which most likely was the cause of the stroke), my mother-in-law had a very high level of HDL (“good” cholesterol); and that might have helped her greatly in her full recovery from her stroke.

Try the government General Hospital, the USM Hospital Bertam ( University Sain Malaysia }, there unnecessary procedures will not be done. There are always some Mandarin speaking doctors. The foreign labourers are often sent to government hospitals by the agent. Government Hospital accepts insurance payment. Private hospitals often made more money from insurance and consultation fees. The KL general hospital outpatient department has the rates displayed in the lobby for locals and residents.
