Sir why you check for short in diode mode after checking in continuity?

Thankyou for posting a useful informative videos sir. I have a table fan which has a single phase motor. One starting winding and one running winding got burnt but the rest of other starting and running windings are intact. Is that ok to change the burnt windings alone or should I have to change the entire windings. Please suggest sir. Thankyou.
