Addiction is a choice but unfortunately its numbs you from thinking the same way sober people do. They cant grasp that a baby being in a nasty house is a bad thing. Thats part of why its a bad idea for addicts to have children in their care. They cant rationalize the way they need to to take care of a baby or even help someone elses baby. This isnt a secret yet the system continues to let addicts have unsupervised care of small children. Its mind-boggling

It's very sad that you can't see that on your own. Anyone who knows me would laugh hysterically at your comment. When you call someone privileged that you don't even know, it just exposes your patterns of thinking, or lack thereof. I am a single father of 5 boys, and have no family that will ever help me. I take care of my boys 365 days a year, and literally never get any type of break, whatsoever. I don't even have the luxury of holding a traditional job, because I am so very needed at home. My boys lost their Mom last year, and now I am in it all alone. Does that sound like privilege to you? But somehow, I manage to do it all by myself, every day of the year, with literally no help, and became a successful stock investor, all on my own dime, without anyone ever helping me. I am the complete opposite of privileged. Did you go from being homeless, and addicted to drugs many years ago, to being able to hold down a family of five all by yourself, and manage to start off with $100 on the stock market, stay up half the night every night doing research. consistently invest more, and grow your portfolio to the point that you can now count on it for Financial Freedom? It really shows how willfully ignorant people are when they throw around such a common parrot phrase, such as privileged. There is no such thing as being privileged, unless you come from a wealthy family, and I do not. Fortunately, opinions don't pay my bills.

My younger sister had a baby after being addicted to meth. At the time the baby was born, we thought she was clean. About a month later, she called me & said someone needs to come get this baby. I can’t take care of her. We kept the baby for a year. My sister got clean & got her baby back. She has been clean for 10 plus years & is an amazing mother. It’s sad that this baby didn’t get that same chance.

For once...reading through the comments...made me realize there is still good hearted people out there. I'm a recovering addict so I see things dif than those who are not addicts ...but i see these comments and people seeing this man on the stand being honest and caring and for who he is not what he does. Addiction is no joke. And it doesnt discriminate ..it could be bob on the corner in the hood or it could be an atty living in the most expensive house. It is in all walks of life. It's very unfortunate. But I love how everyone sees this man for who he is. Gives me a little faith in society ! Now...I admire his honesty and I pray he finds peace and healing. Our government gets paid by the 1 percent that owns drug companies to have fda say yes this oxycodone and other legal versions of street drugs are safe for human consumption. Then give it out to adults and kids alike like they are in a pez dispenser. Then when it comes out they are bad legal street drugs we wage a war on them . Stop them going out and let the same drug companies get into the business of rehabilitation so they can bill insurance making money to clean up there own drugs . How in the hell is this ok ? @@mamabear4872 I'm not sure about that I'm assuming they did a toxicology report, and they did say the family had a lot of drug abuse , in my country they test the mam's and baby's urine to make sure and if any class A drugs are present they will have a conference meeting about the baby's wellfare and make a plan or in bad cases they give the baby to Foster families, that's why I was shocked that they got to bring her home.

My hubby used to be an addict and has been clean for many years. When I met him he was couch surfing trying to stay clean. We moved to the country away from influences now we own and he operates a pretty successful custom home building company. Addiction does not have to define your entire life. Yes I could be his baee. I would get iff drugs and love on him and tell him how much I love him and would be a loyal boyfriend. I love what I see in the comments and am no longer on meth but I'm hooked on pills that I'm prescribed because I have not made it to sobriety if I'm being completely honest. I'm a 27 year old with an 8 year old son and openly bisexual. I don't trust these men and women with my heart but his aura and daddy look as well, I would definitely give him an opportunity to be my man. I don't wish to hear hate qnd am just sharing my opinion. Addiction is NOT A DISEASE. Addiction is a hard wired habit usually caused by a disturbance in the user’s life. Could be depression, trauma, anxiety, PTSD or a mental problem such as bipolar disorder. Seems like this is a low class impoverished family caught in a drug cycle. People learn their behaviors from family members and peers. If you grew up around an environment of drug and alcohol abuse, more than likely you will abuse drugs and alcohol. Simple as that. Never have I heard someone saying their life got better taking drugs, it's just that it affects them mentally giving them a serious twisted way of thinking that only makes sense to them. It's just a sad case

I'm a drug addict, a heroin addict to be exact. But I am a good person and I have morals. It doesn't make sense to me why people think all addicts are bad people cos we aren't.

As a recovering addict, I know that many people who are caught up in addiction are seriously traumatised people who have very sensitive feelings. That's why I believe that addiction is no excuse for hurting or killing anyone. Drugs don't make you kill people. Being evil makes you kill people, especially innocent children and especially when they are killed by their own parents. Most addicts who can't cope with their children have the conscience and instinct to ask for help from family members or social services. I know because that's what I did and that's what many of my drug using associates did. It was done with a heavy heart but we had to do what was best for our children until we got our lives together. Thankfully I faced my demons and am clean for a very long time now.
