I have the same concern on sharing our good deeds to the public. Sometimes i wanna share it with my friends so we all can improve for the better but i always get into my head thinking that people would think that I’m just showing off so i backed off.
@jjboonzaier Жыл бұрын
It depends on how you want to share it, For example, when my wife and I do something, we won't bring it up unless we are asked about our weekend and day and it happened that we did something that would have occured that day. My wife is pretty much hates me bringing it any "good" we do. I also would find it tacky to randomly bring it up, cause that feels like a brag which takes away the sincerity of the action, in my reasoning at least
@Mks71999 Жыл бұрын
I think it has a lot to do with intentions, if for instance you're doing it with the intention of showing off then you won't be rewarded for it, but if you're doing it with the intention that maybe the other person will feel motivated to do the same thing then you'll be rewarded for it. Because at the end of the day if you start focusing too much on what they think then you'll never get around sharing any good information. One thing we've lost through the "my deen, my choice, my life and my link with Allah only and no one else's business" is forgoing a fundamental aspect of Islam which is to look out for your Muslim brothers and sisters as well as stopping wrong acts. Yes, you shouldn't judge anyone in that sense the above motto makes sense but in regards to motivation I disagree. Of course the approach matters a lot but I feel like making such conversations taboo will eventually lead to no one trying to improve themselves and helping others as well. Understand your friends and people you want to motivate to practice more of Islam and bring up things accordingly. For instance when I'm talking to a friend on call or text I like to mention that I need to go pray and I'll talk later, I don't mention prayer time with the intention of showing off but rather that my reminder might put a teeny inkling in them that "maybe I should go pray as well". Eventually it becomes natural for them to hear that and don't find it odd or think you're showing off. At least that's my opinion. Do it with the right intentions in a manner that motivates them to do good. Just how when we see someone do good we may feel motivated to do it as well.
@Mks71999 Жыл бұрын
Another thing I wanted to add, is sometimes the thought process we think is normal for us is often time not the same for others. Sometimes you mentioning good deeds or good information may give them ideas or understand a concept that they never thought about. I've had conversations where I found out people didn't know that if you're struggling to fast during a very hot weather increases your reward of if, that the more difficult your situation is and you follow the commands of Allah despite that, you'll get extra reward, like their concept of the Mercy of Allah wasn't built in a manner that mine was, then I realised not eveyone has that foundation. And through me I hope In sha Allah they're able to learn more about Islam. Even right now, I'm not writing this thinking I know a lot or showing off, only sharing the little info I have by the Grace of Allah with the intention that me keeping such knowledge to myself can be selfish and I'll be asked for this knowledge on the day of Judgement as well, that I knew better and I could've helped others with it but I didn't.
@Mks71999 Жыл бұрын
Community wise, during the time of the Prophet SAW, there are narrations that quote that the Sahabah would compete with each other on good deeds, not with the reasoning of showing off but because they wanted to gain greater favour in the sight of Allah, the incident we all know of Hazrat Umar giving half of his wealth in charity where as when Hazrat Abu Bakr found this out, he gave ALL his wealth for charity. The point being of friendly competition that motivates them to do better deeds. If such things were made taboo at that time, then the Muslim Community would not have lasted for long.

As a primary school teacher I feel the responsibility to teach my student everything regarding their relation with Allah and how to grow up knowing what's right and what's wrong. Every day we'd have at least 20 minutes talking about good deeds. As for Ramadan, we agreed to pray together as long as they're still at school and read Qur'an together. I also put a box full of challenges and questions related to Ramadan and Islam in general. I told them about donation and how important it is, so they're collecting donations daily so that by the end of the month we can buy gifts, go visit an orphanage and make children happy before Eid. It makes me so happy to see how excited they are and how positively they're changing (behaviour, thoughts,.....)

Practicing silence is soooo real for me 😬😬 same same saamee i recently realised i needed a background noise while doing anything. Spotify playlists, podcasts, yt videos, number of series…. Elhamdulillah before Ramadan i realised it and overcame the need. Now im doing those things more intentionally. I can do chores in silence.

I'm listening and taking notes right now (thank you so much for the video) but I wanted to comment on number nine. it is sad to see how our “smartphone” and whatsapp generation greet each other. Through stories/posts and things like that, we always know every detail about everyone. We already know a great deal about everyone and commenting on their posts daily made calling them a dead act because you are always in touch with them all the time... when you call someone but they didn't pick up because they are busy, they open the WhatsApp chat and start the convo through chatting, which is in fact the normal thing. The greeting in Ramadan or any ordinary day will always be the same. But I am going to work on that part alot and start calling people to hear their voices instead. Amazing video keep it, Big thanks

That came just in the moment I needed. For a long time I felt this “anger” why life treated me the way it did but never thought what about my approaches to it, and that indeed hurt even more than the occurrences at some point in my life. And then lately I tried to start doing for myself and turn everything into something that benefits me but didn’t quite know where to start or how to do it. I try to reflect on that everyday and this podcast of yours sure did it’s job on this journey I’m just right now. May Allah bless you and reward you with everything He knows is best for you. This Ramadan my atypical goal will be erasing a person who I litteraly almost hate from my mental focus. I think keeping your mind and your toungue from going off the track, and saying and thinking some horrible things, only to yourself of course, becomes a really really heavy task when you have someone like this around you, and you have to live with them. Dealing with this persons hypocrisy every single day and trying to keep your nerves healthy and yourself focused on the right thing...man.

ive worked on most, if not all, of these goals and im convinced we're the same person???? in all of the eps I've heard so far i feel like I could've written them because you literally say whatever i'm thinking (but a step further in integrating islam mA) so im just gonna assume youre my fbi agent also has anyone ever brought up you being neurodivergent? because you've basically listed many adhd symptoms throughout this ep such as impusivity (which can exhibited more ways than just risk taking), talking too much, not realising what youre saying in the moment, reacting very quickly, having strong emotions, being able to hyperfocus on things, difficulty task switching (!!!!!!!!), you're a visual thinker and you make associations which is how most adhd people learn and think. You also use behavioural strategies such as time blocking and environmental changes like silence to help with focusing,and channeling strong emotions into productive outcomes which are all very common in the adhd/neurodivergent crowd. although im a doctor, im not saying you have adhd or are neurodivergent. which btw isn't a bad thing, but it's just sth to possibly look into if you havent already. there is a lot of fake news on social media regarding this so watch out ✌🏽
