...the displacer beast is charmed!
1. Secret Merregon Potion
First up is the Merregon Potion! This potion is extremely hidden, only obtainable by using Detect Thoughts on a certain Merregon! This potion causes Befuddled, making the target unable to control its actions, and wanders around without direction! This handy potion is obtained from the Hoarding Merregon in the Gauntlet of Shar! To get this, you’ll need to talk to Yurgir and convince him to let you help him complete his contract with Raphael. Once they are neutral towards you, you’ll find the Hoarding Merregon sitting by the fire near the entrance of the room. While you have Detect Thoughts on you’ll have the dialogue option to discover that he is the one responsible for charming the Displacer Beast for Yurgir. And, you can respond by telling him that you were sent to take over for him, and he’ll give you the potions that he’s been using on the displacer beast - which are the Merregon Potions! You can also trade with the Hoarding Merregon too, and he has some decent potions and scrolls. I consider this very hidden since there’s really no prompt to use detect thoughts on this particular Merregon, which makes me wonder if there are other things hidden behind detect thoughts that haven’t been found yet. 2. Bernard in Act 3
Next up is Bernard in Act 3! That’s right, the automaton you encounter in the Arcane Tower is back! Unfortunately for our metallic friend, or foe - he is dead - either by your hands or by one of Ketheric’s Drow recruits. In the Steel Watch Foundry there is a table with an automaton component. When interacted with, the narrator confirms it’s from the arcane tower, and the note beside it is from Ketheric, giving it to Gortash as a gift because he thought he might like it, since it has gears at whatnot. If you inspect the component you can further confirm it was from the Arcane Tower because of the two sets of initials embossed in the copper - LDH and YTS, undoubtedly these are the initials of Lenore De Hurst and Yrre the Sparkstruck, the lovers who once occupied the Arcane Tower but whos relationship had a very tragic end.

3. Poison the Duergar
Next up is how to Poison the Duergar! When you arrive in the Grymforge, directly east of the waypoint you’ll find two Duergar tormenting a Deep Gnome. They’ll repeatedly heckle him demanding more and more ale. And just like we did to the goblin camp, we can go to their Cask of ale and poison it. Right near the base of the stairs is the Stained Cask where the Deep Gnome is fetching their ale from. Click on it and you can add poison to it. Then, the next time the Deep Gnome does his rounds for the Duergar, they will instantly die from the poison. Immediately after, the Deep Gnome will thank you graciously for his freedom by giving you a poison of his own - wyvern poison - which makes you wonder why he didn’t poison the cask himself. Funny enough, Shadowheart even mentions that she would poison their drink if she were the Deep Gnome.
4. Cleric Deity Symbols
Next up is Cleric Deity Symbols appearing when they cast certain spells! This is a neat effect that adds some really awesome flavor to clerics - channel divinity spells like turn undead will show the cleric’s deity before the spell cast is confirmed, and spells like death ward, beacon of hope, warding bond, spirit guardians, and more all show the cleric’s deity’s symbol. Shadowheart’s Shar animation is special in particular because it’s exclusive to Shadowheart - clerics can’t choose the lady of loss as a deity, and some of the deities have really cool symbols, so, something to think about when making a cleric.

Slight correction, if you push Corsair Greymon into the water the unique items he sells (including the Banshee bow) will be in the chest on his ship. Feel free to bully the small guy!

I'm quite sure that if you avoid a confrontation on the boat and kill him at the Grymforge, you can still obtain the Banshee bow. That said, I can't quite remember if it was him or someone else who had it (it would only make sense it was him though), I end up killing all the duergar there before setting Nere free so I didn't have to also deal with Nere at the same time so I can't remember which body I looted it off of; and yes, this is because I wanted to also save the gnomes there.

I thought my ice sorcerer/wizard was more powerful, I just didn't know why, but this explained it. Winters clutches gloves + Morning frost staff + Hoarfrost boots + Coldbrim hat is a super OP setup, your enemies will also end up prone a lot of the time, which among other things, allows a rouge to get easy sneak attacks.

Oh I saw that marragon dialogue on all my playthroughs. But it might be because I always have detect thoughts running outside of combat so that I can use Concentrated Blast Ilithid power in combat. Since it's a ritual concentration spell that lasts until long rest, it's the perfect spell for priming for Concentrated Blast

I do the potions right after long rest along with animal speaking and mage armor plus something like battle mage elixir or blood lust so that i can keep my concentration open for haste OR have Gale twin cast haste (yes i turned him into a sorcerer lol) for me while i use expeditious retreat, which lasts until long rest, because i wear boots of arcane bolstering (arcane charge baby!) And pair those with markoheshkir and the lightning version of Kerekas favour. Enemies melt to my magic missile o,r thanks to my hat of fire acuity, the scorching ray spell. Builds up acuity to ten in just one turn with that ray spell.

You get the bow much earlier by simply killing the guy without pushing him into the water. It's a very powerful bow, I haven't one that could replace it.

I made an ice fightlock for act 1/2 on my first playthrough, with mourning frost and winter's clutches, along with the item that added an element die to your weapon attack when you used an elemental cantrip, and it was actually really strong and fun. I had tried the snowburst ring, but as a caster/fighter hybrid, it was annoying to slip n slide in my own ice puddles lol, so keep that in mind if anyone tries this build.

Encrusted with front with crazy good for a cold build. There's also a ring that makes a ice surface on impact for any cold spell. My gale's prepared spells probably look insane with a couple utility spells and 13 level 4+ spells, but that's because ice knife is really all you need

Funnily enough, I'm in act 3 of a Cold Ranger Honor mode run, where all my teammates are immuned to sliding on ice and create ice surfaces. The cold dagger in Rivington is really OP

That was my build until Enchantment Wizard came online lategame and I started just abusing hold monster shutdown. Still relied on it from time to time though, a water myrmidon + a single bolt of ice creates a MASSIVE field of frost that's nearly impossible for enemies to cross to reach you.

winters clutches saving dc is a fixed 12 DEX. It is not affected by your Spell Saving DC bonus. So most of the time you won’t get the freeze. I have a hireling with twinspells and the draconic elemental weapon to buff both of my sword bard’s hand crossbows. But the enemies often succeed the check and that sucks

Only the first application of Encrusted with Frost may be difficult. After that, the condition gives the affected disadvantage on dexterity savings throws, so it should be easier from that point on to get further stacks. Moreover, looking on the BG3 wiki, there're a bunch of conditions, poisons and spells that cause dexterity saves to *automatically* fail, not to mention the ones that give disadvantage. So with just a little bit of strategy, this could work somewhat reliably. Thinking about how I would do it, knowing this now: Apply Drow poison or Crawler Mucus to my ranged weapon, then use arrow of many targets to hit a maximum of four targets, then with my ice caster, hit those affected with an ice spell and the ball should be set in motion for freezing. OR, use a weapon that sets Chilled, and then just apply water to them and they should become Frozen. 💁🏼😛

1. Nyrulna, the legendary trident does piercing damage. So it is arguably the better option for dealing 2H weapon damage. 2. The Bow of the Banshee, and the two other unique loot from Corsair Greymon, can be looted of his corpse for free on the boat-should you opt to choose the ‘attack’ dialogue option instead of pushing him off the boat. This is the sole method to acquire his three items and the Intransigent Warhammer (found in the Watertight Chest on his Duergar skiff) within the same game save. 3. Posioning the Duergar’s Keg yields no XP. It’s fun to do for RP reasons though. If you slay his captors normally, you get XP and the Gnome still rewards the player with Wyvern Poison.

The 2nd interaction in this video blatantly ignores the intrinsic traits of how poisons work and dwarves' resilience to it in the dnd setting for the following reasons: 1.) Duergar, like all dwarves, are resilient to poison among other things. This grants them advantage on saves to the poisoned condition. 2.) In dnd, poisons are broken down into 4 types: contact, ingested, inhaled, and injury which essential explains the method needed to deliver the poison properly. This means if you wanted to poison someone's drink to lethal effect, wyvern poison would not work as it's a contact poison and not an ingested one.

Upon deeper examination of the rulesets surrounding poisons in 5e, it's also described that an individual would need to consume the entire contents of the poison for the ingested poison to work properly. This is a bit of a nitpick but technically one would need to have two vials of poison, one for each of the dwarves and each vial would need to be emptied specifically into each cup to ensure that each had a full dose of it AND they would have to consume the drink entirely, not stop part-way through dropping the cup spilling the remaining contents while clutching their throats gasping for air before suddenly falling over dead in seconds. Sorry, but as a DM these are the type of details I am always trying to be mindful of.

Coursair goirmair doesnt HAVE to be befriended. Instead of kicking him in i just start a fight with him. The fight can be difficult as he ALWAYS pushes characters in water so gotta kill him quick

My ice sworlock build has been cracked with those gloves. I literally do so much damage with ice knife and ice storm it’s not even funny. Would highly reccomend that and the automaton gloves build with the glaive you get from the bot.

Like your vids man but a few of these have been in the game for a good while already, specifically the Unseen Menace (you even covered it in a another video so idk why its here), the Banshee Bow (again, you covered this in another video when talking about the sword that same Dreugar sells), and Bernard's head found in act 3 (whats the "interaction" there??? Like I thought you were gonna say you can actually talk to him or something at the very least. Its just a robot head that does nothing, no interaction to be found in sight)

Honestly the cleric deity symbol is fantastic to me. Im honestky a little pissed that subclasses for palidin seem to have the most dialogue and stuff i just feel like cleric to me just feels like a weaker less effort put in paladin and i wanted a lot more of the game to be affected by their subclass like paladin i.e oathbreaking

Em the poisoning the duergar drinks was a old trick 🤔 i have done that all the time. Hmm i thought i bought the Banshee from random shop.. anyways similar bonus has the Hunters bow from Dammon act 1. Gives Adv. on hits even with melee against monstrosity type. Very good early game bow

The Hunting Shortbow makes some potentially difficult early-game encounters significantly easier. Notably the harpies, the minotaurs, the phase spiders, the bulette, and the gnolls. Its effect also applies to your melee weapon, too, if I remember correctly! Plus, it allows you to cast Hunter's Mark, which is especially nice if you don't have much to use your bonus action on!

Anyone notice that silence spell is now a ritual spell? Maybe I'm just retarded and didn't notice it before but i distinctly remember sacrificing a spell slot out of combat to set up my attack or to cover my knock spell when specifically trying to free Florick. Maybe i still had it in turn based mode any time i used the spell out of combat, which..why?? I don't get why non combat TB mode should cost you slots. Maybe I'm trying to keep everyone on the same amount of turns so we can ALL make the jump without having to rush OR have the same charges right before a fight. I can deal with it costing IN COMBAT but i think it shouldn't be directly tied to whether your in TB mode or not. Definitely something i want changed in the future Antanyway, really happy to see silence is a ritual spell and will be much more willing to experiment with it now. Totally wondered if the Orin fight would have been easier if i had silenced the bhaal head or the people chanting. Cuz that unstoppable spam was some bs lol. But upcasted magic missile with lightning charges finished her before she could even take a turn let alone the bhaal statue
