I'm so happy you know what a White Elephant gift is! I was at a new job and they said white elephant so I brought this pair of flip flops still in the package....I was so embarrassed! Have you read the history of white elephant? Fascinating!

I can’t answer the first part, but I’m sure there are many variations on this game, but keeping the “elephant” gift for the following years would be a great tradition, perhaps allowing the recipient to alter or add to the gift with the “honor” of directing the game to his or her liking the next year.

Once at our ‘ladies’ white elephant someone opened their gift and got keys AND title to a car!! A junky car!! About 3 of us mom’s had kids soon to be driving , it was the popular gift. The junky car was just that. The drivers door didn’t open the gauges didn’t work and no heat😂

We sort of do a mix of white elephant and the dice game. For the most part we put price limits, like 1 $5 gift, 3 $1 gifts, etc. Then we play the dice game. It never fails though, that my nephew will work a can of corn into one of the gifts he wraps. One year he had a food storage bowl packed with candy, and nestled in the middle of all this candy was a can of corn.

The dice game; do the opened gifts exit the game and it ends when all gifts are opened or are opened presents still in play until all gifts are opened?

You can play it either way. I’ve played it both ways just depends on your guests. 🎄

You can also make a rule where a gift can only be chosen twice or three times before it is out of game play.

@@ShawnMHowell we usually play the white elephant game where a present can only be stolen 3x. I love the idea of the dice game; looks way more interactive. I just need to find a giant foam dice before Christmas. Thanks for sharing!

We decided to do a game with the 4 of us. We did 3 rounds. Gifts were a hairbrush, can of pringles, leopard print sleep mask and a set of 3 foam dice. Participants were 2 adults, a 3 year old and 5 year old. I got the hair brush, hubs got the sleep mask, 5 year old got Pringles and 3 year old got the dice. It was so much fun!

Musical Gifts sounds pretty easy . however I do have a question anyone who is participating do they have to bring gifts or do I need to bring gifts for everyone?

I’ve played both ways so it’s completely up to you. I’ve been to parties where we all brought a gift and set a price point like under $10. And I’ve hosted a party for kids where I supplied the gifts and they were all from the Dollar Tree.

My mother was going to attend a Christmas party to which each person was to bring a white elephant gift (wonder where that term came from??🤔). I have no idea how she found it, as we lived in a small town, but she bought a realistic white plaster elephant, trunk and one front leg raised. It was nt small, either! She had so much fun taking that gift!
