You're welcome! Enjoy all those amazing foods in beautiful Cozumel 😎 I don't remember if we showed it in the video, but there's a great 'tacos guisados' place near the center of town. It's a little hole in the wall place called 'Guisados' 😉

@@waysoftheworld_ The first time my husband and I ever seen Marquisitas, we watched as so many locals were ordering them this way. We both thought it might be gross, but we thought we would do as the locals do and tried them. WOW!! We love them that way and yes, you need to try it😁 The story behind the development of the Marquisitas is that apparently back in the day, (1930's) a gentleman named Leopoldo Mena who made ice cream cones was struggling to earn money due to the weather getting cooler. He decided to make the cone batter with fruits and rolled them up and gave to the children of the Marquis who frequently purchased ice cream. They loved them so much is why they are still here today. He named them after the children of the Marquis. Just a little FYI..lol

Loved your food tour. Can you tell me if you were close to the area where you can see the cruise ships. Going In a couple of weeks to Cozumel and want to do a DIY food tour.
@waysoftheworld_ Жыл бұрын
Hi Barbara! Thanks so much. It was a fun one to make :) Check out the Cozumel Municipal Market :) We also liked Corazon Contento and Guisados Cozumel (both in the center, close to the port). The place where we had the Chilaquiles wasn't too far either and there's a place for drinks (and recommended for food too, but we didn't try it) called 'La Monina' right by the water (next to Hemingway's). Hope this helps. Have so much fun in paradise!

@@waysoftheworld_ were you close to the port where cruise ships come in?

Thank you for sharing! Are there any other options for non-pork eaters. Like do you know if the dishes have different ways of being prepared?
@waysoftheworld_2 жыл бұрын
Hi Imani! So yes, they have other options but not for every dish. You will see plenty of options on menus, but for example 'cochinita pibil' will always be pork. But if you see any other protein prepared like 'pibil' which means cooked underground, then it probably will have similar spices than the pork version. In general, pork is the main animal protein in the Yucatan Peninsula, so make sure to always ask in advance if dishes come with pork. If you see: puerco, cochino, cochinita or cerdo on menus, those are just different ways to saying pork in Spanish so be aware. Hope this helps!! Have so much fun!! :)

Great videos!! Found your channel randomly while looking for excursions in Cozumel. Will be there as a family of 5 next year on our very first cruise ship. Would LOVE to just get off the boat and explore the local food etc as most of what is advertised are the expensive all inclusive beach clubs. Any of the places mentioned close to the ship ports? We will cruise with Royal Caribbean and seems like they port at the international pier when in Cozumel. Also was really interested in doing the boat excursion that would take us to go snorkel at El Cielo, but again usually quite expensive options online. If we go to the main town centre will they have options of boat tours to El Cielo that we could book on the spot and maybe be a bit cheaper? Thanks for the content!
@waysoftheworld_2 жыл бұрын
Hi :) Thanks so much for the kind words and for reaching out! Here are some of our favorites that are relatively close to the ship ports: Guisados Cozumel (great tacos), Corazon Contento and La Monina. Mr Taco and the Municipal Market are not super close but also not crazy far. A lot of the other places we went to in the video are very far from the port (they are close to the airport), so it might not be worth it because you have limited time. A good spot to snorkel close to the ship port is Sunset Beach, which is a restaurant you can snorkel from. We only had drinks there, so we don't know about the food, but the snorkeling was very nice. Also, the very best beach to snorkel from is called 'Playa Corona' (also a restaurant), which is a little bit further but totally awesome!! Just keep in mind that these are not really 'beaches', you just walk in and snorkel from the restaurant (more details about Cozumel beaches here: www.waysoftheworldblog.com/beaches-in-cozumel/) We didn't do the boat tour to El Cielo because it was like $85 p/p (online price), and we do remember seeing it advertised in the little kiosks in the main AV but I really don't remember the prices. There are many boats selling their tours, so my guess is that you would be able to find something there (depending on the season of course), and probably cheaper than what they advertise in the cruise. But it never hurts to negotiate because some might try to overcharge you. Hope this helps!! Have so much fun. Cozumel is incredible!!

yea, I don't actually know of any restaurants in Cozumel that prepare fish in the traditional Yucatecan (Mayan) way... and didn't thing showing a grilled snapper would be very interesting 🤷🏻♂️ I think Mexican style shrimp ceviche is more typical.

There's no address - or at least we couldn't find it anywhere on Google maps. It's a very very small and local place. All we remember is that it only opens on Sundays and it's near the airport. We would suggest asking around that area, he's vary famous, so I'm sure locals will know ;) Good luck!
