I don’t mean to sound rude because I love your videos, and I’ve been absolutely loving these holiday inspos. However, I think it’s dangerous to use or mention/recommend yarn-based pet toys, and to see you go so far as to to offer ways to modify a pattern to be “pet-safe” by sewing down finishes, (which, they still won’t be) is kinda disappointing. I don’t think that’s inherently your “fault” or anything, because it absolutely should be up to the pet owner to research toys that are safe for their pet, understand their pet’s personality and habits, and monitor them while they’re playing with those toys. You did mention researching as well which I appreciate, but it still doesn’t mitigate the fact that yarn is an unsafe material for dogs and cats.

You’re right. I forget that this is the internet and anybody can see this video and interpret information differently. I grew up with dogs that were very gentle with their toys and cats that don’t get very rough with their toys either. I happen to have lifestyle where my cats are almost always under supervision and I can check on their toys regularly. When something becomes a potential hazard, I can easily take it out of rotation. I forgot to check myself that my experience is not everybody’s experience. I’m pinning your comment so others can hopefully see this warning and understand the hazards. I will make an effort not to make similar suggestions in the future.

For "sophisticated" crochet patterns, I love some of JustTheWorsted's sweater designs. I recently finished the I Smell Snow Sweater and I'm in love with it! It took a long time but it's so beautiful.

I love this and your Christmas knitting video. I am new to following knitting patterns and can barely crochet, but I love seeing what can actually be made with a needle or two and wool! That brioche crochet cushion 😍

Oh thank the fiber gods! I'm going to be hip deep in paperwork in an 80 degree [F] office today and I am overjoyed to have good company now! Curses upon the steam heat of the city but blessings upon you and your cozy postings! I should be at the C.L.U.B. [Cozy Laying Up in Bed] and crafting! Happy making!

These are all so cute! I'm not a big crochet girlie anymore now that I've learned to knit. I do /feel/ like crochet is faster, but I enjoy the hand motions of knitting more and being able to knit without looking. I love that chonky little cat tree though! I don't have the yarn colours for it, but it would be a fun make! May cats aren't big squeaky toy fans, but they love long things like pipe cleaners and shoelaces, so I've done some Icord for them that they love. Not sure what it is, but mine also love the wool/sheep smell of yarn too! I think my cats would love those tiny snails/slugs in that set though! You can tell I'm leaving this comment box open to type as I see each pattern. That advent wreath is absolutely gorgeous! I can imagine my adhd self would feel overwhelmed and bored after a while though. Crochet amigurmi with armatures and fidget toy inside are my slush money and favorite challenge. I know I mentioned some of this before but just in case someone wants some advice. Here's a few things to think about: Make the toy twice especially at points of stress. One for a lining and one for the outside. Both should be done with under-hand casting (it's a tighter stitch), or if you don't like the aesthetic of that stitch make sure the inside is underhand cast. Note: Under-hand is smaller and tighter then over-handcast so, you might need to adjust the pattern to fit the lining to the outside snuggly. Why? Stitches relax over time which can be a huge problem if you want the toy to last. Having a lining in the same yarn or in a similar color crap yarn helps with the structure of the toy keeping its shape. Plus you don't need as much stuffing since crochet is a thick fabric. Also with two layers of crochet fabric the stuffing is less likely to come out. Plus, critters chewing on toys need better structure. Maybe make it 3 layers thick in some really good chewy spots? Lastly, when you put in the squeaker or other armature notions sew them into place between the lining from scrap cloth (thinner fabrics like linen do best) and the outside (especially for magnets or you can't get a good connection.) Placement affects how loud the toy is and makes the sqweek more accessible. There's no satisfaction in making the toy that squeaks when the squeeker has migrated to the middle and you or your critters can't access it. But there's other fidget toys that should be inside the lining such as rattles, fidget tubes and music boxes. I hope this helps. Some of these things I don't hear other yarn stuffed toy makers talk about. I'm not sure why. It's such a better construction and there's so many more options in and outside of the critter.
