Love this Kyoto vlog ❤ My husband and I fell in love with Japan with our first visit many, many years ago and now going on #8x's visiting - Haha. Kyoto is our favorite spot! When visiting Kyoto 10yrs ago - it was touristy but much quieter, less crowded. Now you see signs in Gion where there is no photo taking, ecetera - kind of killing the aura unfortunately but still a beautiful place to visit. We would stay at a Ryokan - a 10mins walk to the Starbucks in Gion but now the Ryokan is permanently closed : ( So much to do & see in Tokyo but Kyoto hits differently. Our vibe is more laid back, strolling vs go, go, go - Lol we like Kyoto's pace. You all are so courageous to brave the summer heat and nonetheless had a great time. I can't deal with the heat - Haha - hence not experience Japan in the summer 🤗 btw, your mom is super cute and what a fantastic 8oth bday celebration for her, spending it with all of her kids, grandkids and love ones. You are all truly blessed. Happy Belated Birthday, Momma! Here's to you and Donny planning your next Japan trip back ... this time you both need to stay at Kyoto at least 4-5 nites minimum. There is this beautiful museum - Miho museum I would recommend you visit next time in Kyoto. It's nestled up in the mountains and was designed my a renowned late Chinese American architect named I.M. Pei.

Thank you for sharing and wow, 8! I'm so jealous haha. Omg, I do not recommend Japan in the summer, SO hot! Butmy mom was adamant about being there on her actual birthday. Basically….if you can, i’d recommend going to Kyoto during cherry blossom season or the fall foliage in November. Absolutely beautiful. The thumbnail photo for the vlog is 👌 I’m curious as to why you didn’t enjoy Nara. From what I read before the deer are “highly regarded” I also wanted to suggest a video of your thoughts on traveling to Japan after having been there for a first visit - what you wish you knew, what worked, didn’t work, recommendations to other first time travelers there.
@MikeeRogers3 ай бұрын
Haha I see what you did there ☺️😂. We are definitely going back! I realized as editing I didn't talk about how much I actually loved Japan (I think my focus was on heat, food, heat, and mom lol) but we fell in love. We don't often visit countries multiple times but I can see us going to Japan a few more times! I totally thought about doing a separate video about thoughts on the trip as a first-timer/traveling with family/large group. Maybe later down the line! I think it would be a good way to incorporate some of the photos from the trip. As far as Nara goes,, it certainly was a beautiful area and the deer look healthy but the sight of all these beautiful deer around tourists and shops wasn't my favorite. I would have preferred to head straight to Kyoto for an extra full day there. But I'm no saint when it comes to ethics. I mentioned in my Osaka Vlog that we've swam with whale sharks in Cebu Philippines - which has its fair share of criticism.
