There are a lot of common edible plants that can grow in your yard. Things like Dandelion, Clover, Violet, Plantain, and more are easily found and gathered from a yard with little effort. In this video we count down twelve different plants that are in your yard. This list is by no means exhaustive however it should give you an idea that there can be plenty of diversity in a lawn if you look carefully.
Many of these plants, or varieties of them, grow all across the United States and the world. They also have parts that are usable at different times of the year, as well as some being medicinal so there is something at least one of these plants can offer you. Whether you are looking for desserts, sauces, condiments, greens, vegetables, or even something like glue from the pine tree the choices abound. Proving in one way that you don't have to go very far to find edible plants.

Yep, gardens are a valuable resource for not only plants we love to grow, but also wild edibles that people don't want growing in their gardens. Glad this was helpful for you Yuki and thanks for commenting!

My yard has 9/13 but I could probably find all of this in the nearby woods. I live in the blue hills of kentucky. And actually I like this quick play by. Straight to the point.

@@0oTHEJACKo0 Right? Perfect speed. My favorite videos are usually those that are information intensive & honor me by not wasting my time. For those who like slower videos i reccommend the control menu. Slow the video down to your hearts desire 75% 50% even 25% speed.

How did you learn all of this?
@TrilliumWildEdibles
@TrilliumWildEdibles 3 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty self taught. I spent a lot of time reading books and spending hours upon hours in nature learning about plants. I actually have a video on my channel titled: How I Got Into Foraging That video will explain it a lot better than I could here in this comment. Hope that helps some.

“12 edible plants” Shows the word 13
@TrilliumWildEdibles

This video is older and I'm away from my computer but I'm pretty sure it has 13 plants in it. The extra plant was a bonus plant. In my older list videos I included an extra one as a bonus for my viewers. So there is always one more than the title says. This has changed over the years I've ran this channel.

what if your lawn was only treated with lime? are the wild edibles OK to consume?
@TrilliumWildEdibles
@TrilliumWildEdibles 7 жыл бұрын
Oh heck yeah, anything that is organic and used on your lawn will be fine to consume the edibles that grow in that area. Also remember that many commercial fertilizers for use on domestic crops are set to standards that are acceptable for consumption on produce. I hope that's easy to understand, the main point I was trying to make in the video was highly synthetic chemical sprays that are not okay for consumption by humans. From lime to clay to bat guano and deer crap, is all good to go for food after normal rinsing. As a matter of fact I frequently gather animal feces from the woods and rich humus from rotting stumps as well as mineral rich sands and things for fertilization of garden crops. I hope that helps a bit and thanks for asking!

This video wasn't meant to talk about their uses it was to cover a good number of plants in a short time to show the variety that can be had in your yard. As for the speaking I apologize if it was to fast for you. You can always try to slow the video down using your settings options in the video player. Thanks for commenting Connie!
