Was there a lock keeper or other river authority giving the "ok to go" for narrow boaters? That first part looked very dicey, I believe I would have waited for calmer waters. Anyhow, glad you made it through, yikes! Maybe it looked worse than it really was. Cheers.

lostinthekerf Thanks for your comment. Yes, there was a lock keeper on duty and you have to book a time to go through the lock. They tell you when to go because it’s tidal you need to go when the tide is flowing upstream.

Yes...that wasn't the River Great Ouse, which I believe goes from Bedford to the Wash.
