CitCon 2953 was a thoroughly enjoyable watch, and it's going to take quite a long time to properly break down and get the most out of. But for now I just wanted to put together a few of my key highlights (then a few turned into 12 so I split it into 2 parts)!

Really looking forward to getting the ability to create and sell location markers. The number of times I have been out mining in a prospector and would have love to come back it's too many

Yeah it will really assist in mining (and salvage) ops. I can also imagine a group doing combat missions, logging each kill to then send on to some salvagers in their org.

I'm hoping for dedicated equipment crates that you can store anything in, but they are optimized for the intended gear. Like a 1scu weapons crate can hold other objects like armor, but that armor might take up more space inside the crate than if you were to use it solely on guns. I'm also hoping that we can label the outside of the crates so you can look at your inventory and know what's in it. Like keeping all of your gun types together so it's easier to gearing up

Yeah, being able to have specific crates or racks for certain loadouts would make things a lot easier to organise!

I am STUPID excited for SQ42. When i backed way back when (jesus 2015, has it been that long? 😳) I did so for squadron, as i've always been more of a solo rpg type player. I have since learned to love the PU, and found that pvp dogfighter is my kind of pulse pumping (i am not good mind, i just enjoy it lol), but squadron is what sold me on the project in the first place

The thing that really got me, is all the little stuff. You really have to sit back and rewire you brain to notice stuff We've seen beautiful skies in every game. But SC skies are dynamically generated We've seen fog in tonnes of games. But we've never seen a system built specifically to create them based on weather patterns. It's very easy to just quickly glance over stuff and go yeah, it's a pretty game, seen that before Well.... no you haven't. And what really got me, where the god rays. ACTUAL god rays. Not pre-rendered. Not a skybox. It is such a small detail, that is MASSIVE in it's implications and technical accomplishments

I wonder how persistent personal hangars will handle the problem you mentioned - loading up a C2 with ground vehicles for a race. If you spawn too many of your vehicles, they start despawning, no? If everyone has their own vehicle, how will they access it in _your_ hangar?

I thoroughly enjoy the concept of Master modes but I must say I am, still, not entirely convinced of their current iteration. Being jumped while Mining / Salvaging (for example) means you have no way of defending yourself, let alone flee the scene. I believe that it would be a better approach to have your shield capacity slowly discharge as soon as you switch to NAV mode; that way you would have the possibility of a quick jump or quantum boost. I understand that they want to keep people engaged in fights (dog fights in particular) but I don't believe balancing something as essential as your ability to pilot and control your ship entirely around it is the right move. Just my two cents.

Tho I do agree with you, if you get jumped and you're in a vulture you're in a bad position no matter what. At least now if you're in Nav mode your speed will be waaaay faster than an attacker in combat mode. They'll be forced to switch to Nav mode to keep up. And won't be able to shoot you or have shields either. We'll just have to wait and see. But it sounds like this will force dog fights to be better without really punishing non fighters too much

It would be nice if all the ships weren't stealthy as fuck, and sensor range actually made sense. A light fighter should pop up on radar at hundreds of kilometres, a capital ship should be visible on radar at thousands or tens of thousands of kilometers. Jumping on a target shouldn't even be a thing. Actions should require some planning, especially when you want to be the aggressor.

While this is still a ways out of course, they explicitly want the time to kill a ship to be much longer. Even a vulture getting "jumped" by a single light fighter should have plenty of time to get away, with a few battle scars. Of course, if the pirates think things through and bring a snare along and such, then you're in trouble, but it doesn't seem unfair.

Yeah I suppose it all comes down to how things perform with different ships. It’s a bit tricky to judge it just based off a single gladius

There is also the factor that it might force people who are more industrially minded to change how they act when in more dangerous places - so you’re having to be cagey and just bolt at that first sign of a chevron you weren’t expecting.

I wonder how these upcoming hangars will relate to the hangars we all get as part of ship pledges. Can I choose the style? Do I have multiple hangars? Do I have larger hangars for the multiple ships I pledged for?
@LoudGuns
@LoudGuns 7 ай бұрын
Yeah will be interesting to see - and how it maybe ties to the hangars included in most pledges?
