Halfway through I paused this video and searched "12 Hits From Hell" and sure enough someone uploaded it. Listened to it and came back to finish the interview! Thanks for arranging this interview. As a lifelong (since discovering the Misfits at 12 years old in 1997) I've always been fascinated by the history of this band and the odd/strange way their material was released. This interview answered SO many questions I've thought of over the years. Also, I live in the Chicago suburbs and had NO idea Jerry lived in the South Loop for a decade.

I worked in a music store in the mid to late 90s. After I left, I'd drop in now and then to chat with my former co-workers. This one time when I go in, the cashier reaches under the counter and shows me 12 Hits From Hell and I lost it! I asked when's it coming out?! And he says NEVER. He explained they had to return all copies back to the distributor, and I was sooooo crushed. So happy we all got to hear it eventually, and the wait was worth it.
@jeffreyscecina685218 күн бұрын
I started listening to the misfits in 92 as a 13 year old. They are my favorite band of all time aside from Samhain. When the coffin came out I bought it day one. Still have it. It was pandemonium. I finally got to see the misfits play together this year in Austin. It was outstanding. Life long wish fulfilled.

It kills me because there are recordings of the keyboard era Misfits. Manny Martinez, who was the drummer on Cough Cool. He recorded every practice and I think every show they played. I think he might even have had some shows where Glenn got off keyboards on stage and Franche hooked up his guitar. Anyway, with digital technology there has to be something there. Too bad Manny passed. Also Jeff Frumes who does a Misfits podcast on KZbin. He said when he visited Tom, he played him a track that had different vocals than the released version. And the different line they used in Horror Hotel. That means an alternate take song unreleased. The complete show where Flip side pulled a live song from the Misfits for some comp. That's the show Jerry and Doyle overdubbed I believe. The Christmas at Max's. I would love for technology 20+ years later to see what they can do with our the over dubs. The flipside version is great and I don't know why they wont release the whole show! But really, those Manny tapes are so historic to the Misfits and I would kill to hear them. They did Spinal Remains sung as Feline Nursery. There needs to be a go fund me!

Great content! Love it! 21:15 Fun fact: I took the boxset beack to the shop a couple a days afer I bought it, telling them something is wrong with the CD (Evilive!), because it sounded shit or 'broken'. Turns out, the original tapes were so deteriorated and sounded worse than my old vinyl copy :D 38:00 also: everybody check their "non -accountant" version, if their SA case is actually translucent dark red (hold it up to a light source), instead of plain opaque black ;)

Glenn is an enigma. Good luck getting him on. I saw Danzig in the '90's. I also saw the Misfits then. I doubt I will ever see the two together. It's not that there haven't been opportunities. It's that they are often too far out of reach. Sadly. Of course, I saw King Diamond recently so. Never say never.

Yeah I seen them too and it was the second time I seen them during the Graves era alot of people were pissed it wasn't Graves that came out on stage and I was like who is this guy?Surprisingly he did pretty damn good on vocals for those songs.Wasnt sure if this was during the time where they left Graves at the airport or something like that during tensions between Graves and Jerry maybe those were just rumours.
@TheChadTIАй бұрын
1:18:45 How did they not immediately say Bobby Steele?😅 Were they listening?😂 Yeah, they would have allowed it if Doyle was credited for all of it. It couldn't happen though.
@mircobernado7028Ай бұрын
I disagree with your opinion on Walk Among Us. The record is the best produced album by the Misfits, for sure. You don't have to compare 12 Hits From Hell with Walk Among Us, because half of the records have not the same songs and it's a different time period. But if I have to choose the better versions of Skulls and I Turned Into A Martian, for example, than I would pick the Walk Among Us versions. By the way, I love both of them a lot. I think that they didn't put out 12 Hits in 1980 is, because of the Bobby Steel situation. They really wanted Doyle in the band and they don't wanted an album with Bobby on it, because of the music rights.
