I grow Entelea arborence in a dry spot under a large tree in Melbourne and it covers the space with tropical lush greenery despite it being so dry there. Cut back each spring, very useful foliage tree

That pseudowinterii reminds me of our eliagnus which has a silver backed leaves....a sweet Cinnamon smelling non descript bloom...I have a variegated one that is very vigorous....

I see the similarities but it is also quite different with the burgundy mottling to the leaf surface. Regards Stephen

A. Chathamica silverish coating... is it similar to some blue hostas that have a bluish coating on the leaves?
@thehorti-culturalists
@thehorti-culturalists Жыл бұрын
Not really as the Hosta is about leaf colour and the Astelia is about a leaf coating. Regards Stephen

Hi Stephen! I've got a question: Is the darkness of "black" or dark flowers affected by soil conditions, light etc? My neighbour bought a geranium in flower and the first year it was very near to black, but the following years it's flowered as a lighter dark red colour. I've also tried growing "black velvet" dark red nasturtiums and they ended up a cheery bright red. I'm from Melbourne, Australia, and enjoy watching your videos - thank you for always sharing such interesting info!

Th eGeranium could well be a combination of extra sun and soil type so trying something different could work. The dark Nasturtiums could be an issue with poorly selected seed. Regards Stephen
