I have 2 DC Audio lvl 4 subs on 3000 watts ported in Jeep. I consider myself a BassHead although i love SQ. I have Focal k2s front n back so it sounds AMAZING! Also if it gets too loud i can simply put the bass down with bass knob. Any song sounds good in my Jeep! The more power the better.

@@daneirowashington7444 the level 4s were my favorite subs til I heard the XL Elites. The sound quality of the Elites is just amazing. They're loud too. I have one hooked up and it sounds like the 2 lvl 4s I had... if you're thinking about purchasing.. you'll need good mids n highs to keep up with the XL Elites. go with DC Audio Carbon Fiber 6.5s and a DC 175.4. You won't regret it.

I chose 2 Audiofrog GB12D4’s over these pushed mono with an ArcAudio X2 1100.1 amp. I really hope I like them as much as these. I am totally an SQ guy who still likes some decent spl as well but more sound quality. Those Audiofrog’s get compared to these so much and I like being an odd ball when it comes to my audio decisions. 😎 They are going in a GEN 2 Tacoma Access Cab so small room back there that 1100.1 amp should give me more power than what I need for now.

@@MrJigga420the W6 and W7 are different drivers for different purposes. The W6 is an SQ woofer. The W7 was there attempt at an efficient SPL woofer. The W7 hasn’t won any SPL or sq championships in a lifetime,but it does sound pretty good to me. Not worth the price tag though imo and I have two of the 13.5’s.

I mean if you getting the HD 1200, your best bet is running them at 4ohms. Google JL audio wiring diagram for dual voice coil. It would show exactly how to do it

Hi please help I have daul 12in jl w6v3 hooked up to a jl amp 1000/1d jx.. Is this a good step up? It doesn't really sound loud outside and I have it on a porter groundshaker and hoping to put them a custom porter box at specifications and hope it sounds better..

I have a 2 JL W6s in a sealed box built to spec. I feel like I'm missing the reel low lows...especially since I had them in a 4th order prior. Wondering if I should go with a bigger box or ported. Not crazy about ported due to peaks in certain notes.... response isn't as flat. Suggestions anyone?

You’re right... I have 2 - 12w6v3 each in the original HO and new HO box and each one would perform so loud and good. After watching this video i bought a ground shaker seal and throw both 12s together... Most music it sounds like 1... so yes... Seal is not the way. Only good for basstronics songs. LOL

mironyuk this subs are not loud....loud means spl for me and this subs are for clean bass notes they get low with no distortion this jl audio is for pure SOUND QUALITY SQ ...great subs (my opinion)

mironyuk it can be really accurate. qtc .707 happens at 1.44 cuft. if you want to go as low as possible and make sure you don't have resonance or an extended mid bass this sub delivers. the box may just be larger than spec. depends on the car really. larger open areas like an suv are where I have noticed substantial increase in sound quality dropping the qtc from the spec which aligns to something like .790 or .800 down to .700 to .720

Ported is always better, jl audio recommends sealed boxes tho, the only difference is that in sealed boxes you don't need a lot power to move a subwoofer nice and hit the lows and also sealed is less space. In my opinion ported is louder , sealed is sound quality

@@leonserrano8132 so I got a sealed box and sold my ported. I have a custom ported box being built which is why I sold my current ported box. I’m using the sealed box until my box is built. I like how the sealed Box sounds it gets pretty loud surprisingly,the box is pretty close to the recommend spec but still a prefab sealed. Hard to tell if it’s bass is more cleaner or accurate. Maybe my original ported box sounded pretty good so it hard to see much difference. It’s still very clean tho. Maybe when my built box is ready and I switch I will truly be able to test the difference. I think the car rattle less that’s one of the main differences. My entire car is sounded deaden a great deal But with the ported box some rattle got thru. (Wire rattle) With the sealed it seamed to be not as much if any.

@@Carlossteezyblunts These subs have a QTS of 46... roughly 40 is good for ported and 50 is good in sealed, so these will perform well either way but sealed will be cleaner and safer for the subs. they are efficient subs that move relatively easy and can easily be over pushed and damaged in a ported box. personally I would always run JL's in sealed boxes.

Sealed is better for a flat response and a sealed box can hit the low lows its all in the airspace but ported is louder ad youll lose output when not playing close to the frequecy that your box is tuned to where sealed will be mostly flat, again all depends on airspace

Sir-Dab-Alot Na A sealed box can hit the lows its all about the air space I build boxes all the time and 30hz is too low for music maybe only decaf but youll get more out of it tuning closer to 35-40 but in competition youll usually want it tuned lower. Also the sub parameters make a huge difference as well, a sub with a softer spider and lighter cone will be much more dynamic and musical than a stiffer suspension. One of my systems are 2 diamond audio d1 10s on a diamond d6 450.2 and they are in a prefab atrend bbox about 1 cube per sub tuned to 40hz and the soft suspension on them lets them play the lows so smooth and clear and the output is insane youll never think its only less than a 500 watt system. So if you are choosing between 2 similar subs and you want a great musical sub that can play the lows as well be musical, get one with a softer suspension and tune the box higher so youll get both low end and still have great musical output

No. Better SQ but alot of it depends on the box you put the subs in. Try searching DC Audio level 3 and up. They are very veryyy nice Sound Quality Loud subs.

@Gary Burton no, youre wrong still. Maybe the set up you have makes your JLs hit harder but Kicker will still outperform JL in being louder. That's a fact! JL is not meant to go loud. They're just SQ subs.

@Gary Burton I'm no means a fan of either brands. Both aren't worth the little bass they produce but I've owned both and hands down the L7 is louder. The w6 plays cleaner but by no means is it loud... Your tests must be very veryyy off if you get different results than what I'm telling you.

@Gary Burton so you think a JL can handle more low bass huh? Lol you're not top smart. How low the sub goes depends on the box ultimately, very little to do with the actual sub. Now the bass it produces at those low frequencies depends on the sub itself. The w6 really lags in the low end. You will never know what I'm talking about until you experience the big boy subs that produce real SQL (Sound Quality Loud) Example DC Audio, Sundown, FI and Deaf Bonce just to name a few.

@bone-snypa depends on the DC sub you're using. Ultimately the W6 lags on the low frequencies. Theres much better subs out there that can do much more in any way you see it.. You can put it against DD Audio, Sundown or DC and you'll get the same results.

That's nothing put a JL Audio 1000/1 on those bad boys with a custom-built ported box to manufacturer specs then your mind will be blown. I ran one 10W6v2 pushing it with a Jl Audio 500/1 in a custom-built center console box that I built that replaced the factory center console and bolted in the ported box using the existing brackets and that thing put out so much bass it was hard to handle it. Some people I had in there could not take it. I built it out of 1" MDF glued and pre-drilled holes then screwed together with the port and speaker facing the back of my Chevy crew cab. When you secure your box like bolted to the frame of your vehicle you get more output and no vibrations. Your system sounds good buddy I would just suggest using a better amp and custom-built ported box to the manufacturer specs if your box is not already built to spec and ported that is. I have never heard of Zippo boxes but if it is ported and built to spec then get a JL amp to push them it will make a big difference if you can afford one. I even pushed both of my 10w6v2's with my 500/1 and it sounded good but they needed more power. The 500/1 is better suited for my two 10w3v3 JL's when running two subs. I do not know how much you know about car audio just my 2 cents so no offense intended.

I've only owned 12'' W1's back in 08' but they were great subs... sounded great and don't need much clean power to sound really good, I had the little Slash 250/1, people couldn't believe that little amp was all I had. They're still beatin in my buddy's Tahoe, so I feel the W1's are worth the money and probably the W3's but beyond that it gets a little ridiculous... I'm not familiar with b52.
