12 months with the Honda S-MX! Happy Anniversary!

A quick update on the Honda S-MX, as it celebrates an entire year on the HubNut fleet! This grey import has somehow become a keeper. I certainly didn't expect that, but life with old cars is often about exceeding expectation.
This one is mostly just me chatting as I made my way along the M53. More Honda content, and some Autotest action, soon!

Happy anniversary!......It's a bit like I'am with my Pajero Junior Ian, thats slow, noisy, and not really pretty to look at, but is 100% reliable and does more than I ever expected of it.... I love it to bits, so much so I'm into my 4th year of ownership.......funny how some cars just get 'under your skin'.

My dad was like that, the only time he'd spend money on a car was just before selling up, usually after a fault had occurred, but that aside, nice to see the Honda's still around, hopefully sticking around for a bit longer... :)

Jap boxes are great had a Suzuki wagon r auto hated it at first but hell did it grow on me!

I've got a 2012 Honda Civic petrol which uses oil; in fact it admits this in the handbook - 'Approximately one litre of engine oil to every 1000 Kim's.'

Fantastic little car. I have for ages been looking at an old day van for day or weekend jaunts and wanted, for a while, a Chevy Astro however this is a far better car. Very funky. I have seen them before but never gave them too much thought until watching your videos and I find myself strangly falling in love with them. I doubt I'll find one for the bag of peanuts you paid for yours, but it's certainly got me interested. I don't sleep too well in the 300zx!

I'll keep my eye open. I did see a few when I was in Japan earlier in the year, it's the quirky interior that really sold me. There's one on ebay for £1400. I have an itch I need to scratch now! You mentioned the issue with its unwealdy handling through bends, I am sure there are larger fatter anti roll bars available for it. Wouldn't need to change the spring ratios so under normal cruising it would remain fairly supple.

Not sold in the U.S. I have an Accord with 130,000 miles (210,000 km), bought new. 32 to 39 mpg. Needs a quart of oil every 5,000 miles (8000 km), still on the second set of tires, had to replace a sun visor and front brake pads.

Just had my rocker cover gasket replaced on my Smx as it was leaking oil, well worth replacing it. Got fed up with the burning oil smell.

Yeah, replaced mine and the camshaft end seal. I failed to use sealant though, wrongly assuming that the rubber would do the job. I've removed, resealed and replaced the end seal, which has improved matters a lot, but I'm sure the cam cover is still leaking. Need to find a way to remove it again. As I say in the vid, one of the bolts is spinning so I can't get it back off!

HubNut B20 engines leak mostly around the seal like you said but always at the front onto the exhaust manifold. That's where the bad smell originates.
