Seek feedback. Both constructive and destructive. In addition, develop a thick skin. This has helped me as an aspiring screenwriter.

Squash and stretch is critical. Learning all 12 + the 22 things that Pixar uses as a template for its film is key. The 12 principles didn't come from Disney, but it's been the basis for animation for +/- 100 years. Using these frameworks is a refreshing way to work. The main animator makes the keyframes for the scenes. There are artists that fill out the framesl inbetween. The Inbetweener is a Critical role. This makes Pixar billions. All the stuff in the real world applies. Doing the actions in the real world definitely translates to the VFX, cartoon, real life actors productions. For example, I'm a cameraman, that translated over to 3D Layout Artist(I know Maya,so it was a good fit.

More animators need to use these principals. They need to memorize them and know them by heart.

Timing is the most important thing. Not these principles, you should know them by just watching a lot of animation, which you have already done if you want to be an animator. Timing of when you hit the key poses is the most part, and is the part that most beginners get wrong.
