Great Video, thanks. Ive found over the years that Architects tend to update there Coordinate system in middle life span of job, when coordinates has already been acquired whats the best method/process for updating /resetting your project coordinates to suit the updated coordinates received from Architects newly coordinated model.

This video is super clear and concise. Shared Coordinates and Shared Sites have always been a point of confusion for most of the staff @ my office. As a BIM Manager, I’m always looking for new and more efficient ways to deliver this information. Wondering if you could post something about this process specifically within BIM 360. I have been racking my brain trying to figure the easiest way to show people the ‘Acquire Coordinates Only’ method when sharing coordinates in the cloud.

As always really cool and understanding video about shared coordinates. Question: By step 8 defining see level that means that Project Base Point (clipped) of the Site Model is also at 0 value as Survey Point so when you create a level of the building the value is absolute height? Thank you in advance for your answer.

These videos on shared sites is great! I wish i knew this stuff sooner. I had a question though. When you linked the structural model in to the site plan does it make a copy to both sites? or do you need to copy manually to the second site?

You need to have the same coordinate system and acquire the project positions. You can acquire the coordinate system by using the method shown in the video, and acquire the project positions by using the Transfer Project Standards and select "Project Info".

hello im a Mep engineer and my architect gave me coordination information in order to input in my internal origin point in the model. also an angle to my true north. my question is should i locate that internal first before i even bring the architectual model? and the brung everything by the book?

For Revit 2023 users, now the Internal Origin is something that is also displayed in the VV dialog. No need to redraw it!

Hello, congratulations on the video, what's happen if the project's coordinates N/W survey point are located Extend greater than 20 miles of origin point ?
@bimpure
@bimpure 4 жыл бұрын
Great question. There can be visibility issues in Revit when a project geometry exceed 20 miles. However, the Survey Point is not a geometric element so it's not really an issue. In certain cases where the Survey Point is 100+ miles away from the project, or when using WGS84 coordinates, it might be ok to unclip the survey point. A blog post specifically about the Survey Point is coming soon! Thanks for the question.

that was very useful and informative tutorial! thank you so much but i have question for you. why did use place the arch. model manually to the site model at 6:53 ??
@jondepaul2372
@jondepaul2372 5 ай бұрын
I believe this is because the Architectural model did not yet contain the shared coordinates. Once the building is arranged on the site, then the coordinates get published to the Arch model for the given instance. If you were to then remove the link and then re-link the ARCH model, you would then link to site via shared coordinates.

I have Type A building in 15 locations on the site. How I can publish those 15 locations to the MEP models? When I try to publish or aquire it shows "can't obtain coordinate from multiple location file".

Publishing the coordinates from the site model to the architectural model, the survey point always springs to 0,0,0,, whereas in the site model it is positioned on true world coordinates. Any clue whats going on?

Is the reference to the site topographic model bidirectional? I.e., Does the site show up in each specific architectural model, so that I can work around the site's topographic restrictions while I'm designing each building?
@bimpure

You can't modify the topography inside the architectural model.

This is all great info but am have a slightly different result with my survey point. When i publish coordinates to my architectural model the survey point doesnt move to the same location as the survey point on my site. Do you know why this might be?
@bimpure
@bimpure 2 жыл бұрын
If site extents are too big, perhaps the Survey point is automatically unclipped and is decoupled from the shared site origin. Select the survey point and check the ns and ew values, they should probably be different from 0.
