I never realized until I became an adult how dark and depressing the core of Fry's life is. A man who hated his upbringing and felt so unneeded by those around him he saw being trapped in the future to be a blessing, not knowing until years later into his time in the future how much his family, friends, and dog missed him every day and regretted not telling him he mattered as much as they should've, and as a result his family probably thought he committed suicide off a bridge into water.

Fry is like the oxymoron of their universe. Everything around him and in his life really shouldn't be. He's his own grandpa for Christ's sake. He shouldn't even exist. But he does and somehow ends up in the future. That's why almost everything he tries to do doesn't work

Fry has the most emotional moments in Futurama. The one thing I find the most heartbreaking, is when his own mom dreaming about his son. Just shows how she misses him. Also Fry and Leela’s growing old together is the most tender and sweetest moment I’ve seen.

Seymour reminds me of our family dog where everyone grew up and moved away. Only my father was there when it came time to put him down. He described how he had gotten distemper and when it came time to get him in the car, Toby just hung his head down the entire time. I will always regret not being there for his last days and especially at the vet for his last moments. He gave so much to the family over the years. It makes me angry and full of sadness that in our younger years when we feel we are too 'busy' for anything but our small world that we don't appreciate those around us. It's also hard realization how selfish I was in my younger days. You were loved despite our shortcomings, Toby, and still missed. Yep, for such a hilarious show it gets surprisingly deep and can hit the emotions unexpectedly.

Fry’s realizations and the writers depiction of life after he went into the cryofreezer are always so heart wrenching because of their close correlation with death. Fry is dead for an anyone knows in the year 2000 but the show so eloquently shows what impact Fry’s absence has on everyone in his life. I agree that "Jurassic Bark" is one of the hardest hitting shows I've seen, I still have to go with "The Body" from Buffy The Vampire Slayer as my top emotional gut punch show I've ever seen. In case you are unfamiliar, Buffy's mother dies unexpectedly, not from a monster or demon or magic, but from natural causes, and the superhero of the show that saved the world many times over is totally helpless to do anything. The show is such a goofy, fun filled, and lacking seriousness, that this episode coming out of left field hit even harder.
