Good bypass to drive the circuit high and low. FWIW you can simply touch B+ or B- with lightly wetted fingers, and do the same thing. Lick your finger, touch your jump lead from B-, and hold a T-pin in your other hand to drag the circuit to zero. Use B+ to drive it high.

Will this work on wide and oxygen sensors?
@thisisausername1265
@thisisausername1265 4 жыл бұрын
@@VoltageDropDiagnostics I've done it on many standard oxygen sensors. Being that AFR sensors usually don't fail low or high, instead having a bias in one direction, i don't normally have to drive them high/low with a jump lead as I can do so with other means. That said I'm pretty sure I used it on a Rav4 lambda sensor last week. Give it a try, it will pull up/down any circuit running on really low current. South main auto has shown it a few times. Lick both fingers, drag the signal where you want to. Obviously it doesn't move any current, but it will display on the scan tool.

Since I don't have an led test lamp I gave this a try and sure enough it works. The a/f sensor reads from 2.6 to 2.9 key on engine off and when I touch the positive post, and when I switch to the neg post it goes to 3.3 and stays there. Does that mean the sensor is failed?

I really like the explanation, there are a lot off us techs out there that typically work in the independent shops and we don't always get the up to date training, especially with this virus scare, so we really have to go looking for information and like you my shop has not slowed down at all I have been working 7 days a week for the last several months just to keep from getting behind on work. A couple of years ago there wasn't much info on A/F sensors so I am slowly getting up to speed and seeing you do that test to confirm circuit integrity is a big help. Thank you again for taking the time to make these videos, they are greatly appreciated!

Hello there,,I know this is somewhat an older post, but since youre the Toyota go-to guy, Have you ever had an older camry (2004) with an A/F sensor heater code p0031 cause a bog down type of symptom? I had one and the sensor was bad, (OL on the sensors heater), but I didnt get to fix it due to the customer refusing repair because of high mileage (270k) on the clock. But it had this bog out whenever hitting the throttle, I expected to find fuel pressure dropping out like a rock, but it was fine, cats were fine also,. I could only conclude the one front A/F sensor not getting to temp and not working was causing this issue. Its eating me up not being able to have replaced then sensor and find the actual fault if it was something else. MAF reading was good too, but I did notice the rear 02 going lean at WOT. so I know it was starving for fuel.. Just one of those that I cant stop thinking about..
