1 fail safe way to tell if leather is real is smell it. No matter how many years go by, how worn, or how cleaned, it will ALWAYS have the scent of leather. Even if it’s faint, the smell of leather is always present.😁 just a tip.

I bought a LV bag gtdupe years ago. I took it to the LV store in my town last week to have it repaired. The store clerk inspected my bag and immediately told me that the bag was of good quality. She pulled a current bag out of inventory and compared the tags and I found zero differences

The bag may be authentic....consignment and second hand stores are notorious for under selling coach items. I recently purchased a bag that retailed for over $400.00 for $35.00 at a consignment shop. Using the tips found here may help you to determine if the bag is authentic.

One of the best tells is the zipper brand engraving that WILL be on every zipper on an authentic coach bag. The outside zippers,the inside zippers....every single zipper will have this. I do not mean the finger pull Coach engraving but im talking about the actual zipper mechanism. There should be engravings that detail the zipper brand, usually YKK. The actual coach name will sometimes also be engraved on the zipper but sometimes not,even on an authentic bag but the zipper brand engraving ALWAYS ALWAYS WILL BE THERE.

There were a few times I’ve ordered from the Coach website where I ordered a wallet that was from Coach New York yet it came in a 1941 dust bag. Then I ordered a 1941 bag that came in a Coach New York dust bag. It was the Coach Courier Carryall & the wallet was the Hutton Turnlock wallet lol. Also the recent Coach rogue 25’s that were released. They have the 1941 hangtag but it doesn’t say 1941. It has the patch & same layout design as a 1941 Rogue yet it’s not 1941. But I guess it’s from the Coach Forever Collection. On my green Rogue 25 I noticed on one of the zippers it says Coach 1941 but not on the black one lol. I think they made a mistake but I’m not too worried about it. I’m just happy I finally got to have a few Rogues in my collection now lol.

I also have a yellow leather Coach, authentic, where the gold hardware chipped and looked terrible - I was also told the hardware couldn’t be replaced. I live 2 hours from the nearest store, so I didn’t get anything done other than the leather cleaned. Heads up, yellow leather picks up blue dye off of your clothes and stains it. If you want to keep colored leather pristine, don’t let it touch your blue clothes!

This is very helpful! I almost bought a fake parker top handle in oxblood with the flower turnlock on an Instagram shop months ago but then did some few research on the actual picture of the bag on the Coach website and other sites. Saw some differences on the zipper type (the fake one also had coach on the zipper/ziplock) and the color of the inside flap. Initially thought that it could be because of the lighting but decided not to purchase it anyway. It was way cheaper and it also had a stamp inside with the code but I figured I'd rather be spending my money on the authentic one instead of possibly buying a knockoff. It's amazing how people can easily replicate bags nowadays.

They sell Coach bags at military installations. My ex bf got me a black leather one in 2003. It was very small and kinda ugly but up to this day it is sturdy and still looks like new. Here in my country you can get them used/preloved for less than $100 depending on the style and year they were made. Some you can get even cheaper “well used” when there are work to be done in it (stains, leather rubs, etc). And yes, they are original, with the story patch, stamping, numbers and hangtag and all. By the way thanks for sharing that part about the numbers because I was able to look up all the Coach bags I currently have. 🙂 Now I know they have names! hahaha My mom got me a brown fabric Coach bag with leather trim for $400 from a Coach store in Canada in 2013. A part of the fabric on the back bottom of the bag ripped off after two years of using it. I can’t bear to look at it now knowing how much was spent on it and then that happens. Since then I have not purchased a Coach bag brand new. The replicas they make in other countries are getting very good now, but you can tell the real from the not real by just feeling the fabric and leather and the lining inside of the bag. The story patch stamping inside the bags they are able to do it now but not the serial numbers. Before she got the real one she got a replica from Shanghai and there is in fact a huge difference at first glance and feel to it.

I've only been bothered since I found out that the products on *unidups* look just as good as the authentic ones lol. People have been buying fakes for decades. It's a fake food industry, fake medicine, fake perfume. If you want the authentic, buy it. If not, don't buy it. Some people collect authentic, knockoffs, and knockoffs. Any bag can cost over $10,000 which is ridiculous. No leather can be that good or that valuable. I saw a guy take a handbag, belt, and slg apart. He complimented the design but ultimately decided people were paying thousands for the brand. The leather and craftsmanship is generally a fair price.

No there was a period about 10 years ago or so that they used circular C’s. For instance the Kristin line signature. I have a Julia leather wallet purchased from retail store that used circular C’s on the metal logo.

Another clue - I bought a fake at a thrift store. There are snaps on the bag - stamped “Guang Tong” - a Google search finds other handbags with this as the brand! The inside is horrible fake satin, no numbers anywhere, zipper doesn’t say Coach, and it’s fabric with the C’s but no word “coach” anywhere on it.

For mens bags, I’ve only had a dust bag included for one bag I purchased. This was for the Rogue Brief and it came with a Coach 1941 dust bag. hi! yes normal wear and tear is definitely normal and expected!! You can try buffing it to shine the hardware but scratches are inevitable. Also, i believe that the celeste bag is an outlet bag, and as mentioned in the video, the tips are more for the retail bags. I wouldn't know what to look for in outlet bags as they are designed and made differently. So don't panic unless you have a real reason to! and if you bought the bag at a Coach outlet location, then its 100% authentic.

Hi I have a question I brought 3 coach bags from the collection Wildflower. The first two bags I bought was the wristlet (I didn't receive a dust bag for that one) and the Id card from retail coach. The last bag I bought was at outlet coach but when I compared the three of them the one from outlet didn't feel the same as the the ones I bought from retail. What can I do in this case?

hey!! so retail quality is better than outlet, therefore it is only normal that you feel a difference. It is quite logical, and the reason why retail is SO much more expensive!! However, the item you bough is from the outlet, which means its still real, so there's no worry about its authenticity. But there is definitely a disparity between outlet quality and retail quality. I bought the parker quilted black bag recently 76081, I know for sure that it's real. I bought from the Coach website. But my gunmetal emblem on the front is chipping with wear. It is hard to chip and my bag is designed where metal parts rub on one another often.

hey!! maybe you can go in and ask coach if they can buff the metal for you, or ask how you can prevent it from continuously chipping!! I have a gunmetal bag too and i haven't had any issues, hopefully you can get it buffed or smthing!! goodluck! :))

@@IvyWxng Thanks for the info. It didn't bother me but when you said it doesn't normally chip it made me wonder why my gunmetal chips. It's like its coated in some sort of finish. It is my first new coach bag. I'm very satisfied with the quality.

hi!! yes they do, but some stores, to save space and time, will take them off when they receive them. So some bags might have them on, and other might not. So please don't use the packaging on the handles as a signal of authenticity!!

Heyy Ivy, I love this video! Thank you for sharing. I am planning to get the same wallet as you but the crossgrained leather in the color “sunlight” (sort of a goldenrod mustardy/yellow color). Do you think there is a chance that the color will probably transfer easily or get dirty easily? Thanks

hi!! thankyou!! yes girl don't worry!! as long as you are sure its cross grain, then you are GOOD TO GO!!! cause cross grain is less likely (nearly impossible) to color transfer nor will it get color transferred on, and it's fairly easy to clean because of its almost coated exterior! Great choice :))

From the three leathers that you mentioned on the video, where would you rank the cross grain leather in terms of durability, quality and easily scratched?

@@allendella3141 yess great question!! so it is NOT easily scratched, it would be similar to the coated canvas, where your nails would NOT scratch it. So thats really good. Quality is great, tbh all of the leathers are great quality. They are all pretty much equal but glovetanned is the best. So in terms of quality id say cross grain is similar to just normal calf leather. Durability is pretty good, because of its harder exterior, it's definitely a little more durable, you could probably through it around a little more compare to your avg leather. I'd say the durability is very similar to the coated canvas as well. Obviously the difference is that coated canvas is not leather, otherwise they are very similar!! Hope this helps!!

hey!! hmm that's a good question, and I can't tell you for sure because I dont know the outlet policies. Everything i went through in the above video is for retail. So unfortunately, just because the story patch doesnt have a serial number, i can't say for sure if its fake or not. I suggest you look at all the other signs I went over in my video. If you find something else that is a little suspicious, it might mean it is fake. However, where you bought is incredibly important. If you bought it from the actual outlet store, or the outlet website, its totally fine, its real. If you got it from a 3rd party seller, then thats more suspicious. I usually don't recommend anyone buying 3rd party because fakers have gotten more and more real these days its scary. GOODLUCK!!!!! i hope its all okay :))

So my expertise isn't really in outlet bags, so i can't tell you where they are made (if they are from NY or not)...BUT i can tell you if you are purchasing from the Coach Outlet website, they are real. Any ACTUAL COACH STORE SELLS REAL PRODUCTS. So i don't think its necessary for you to check all this details. I made this video for people buying mainly second hand and from consignment shops. So don't worry, YOU ARE GOOD :)) enjoy your new pieces!!! but also yes, the outlet quality is a little different from Coach retail. Coach retail uses superior quality materials, which is why it's more expensive.

hi!! Yea no worries at all!! If you're buying from a retail store, its 100% real. It's just sometimes straps don't come with dust bags, so we just grab whichever one to package it. That's all! Once again, if you're buying in store, its 100% real.

Though I bought from a retail store, the quality of the bag disappointed me. Glue mark and scratch on strap, a 1cm cut on the suede. That’s why I am wondering if it is fake.

I've heard people say that the first few numbers after the "No" stands for the month, year and place it was manufactured. However, I didn't hear it from the company directly, and I dont actually know if that is 100% true or not. What is most important to you is the 5 numbers after the dash. That is the style code
