I am really enjoying the lessons. My wife is very good at playing the piano and organ. She reads music and plays by ear. She is also a perfectionist and likes the music to be played how it is written. Now I am a newbie I like to explore, as far as I am concerned there are no mistakes I apply this to my art and now piano. I love to listen to and watch Erroll Garner. I know he is a jazz piano player but I love how wonderful his playing is. He also makes eye contact with his audience, and that smile he has when he is delighted with what he has played. I do understand I have to start somewhere and jazz will be over my head as a newbie. Ty for sharing these awesome lessons, very much appreciated.

I just stumbled upon your channel the other day and have probably watched almost a dozen of them so far. I have to say I visit many piano channels but I think yours really stands out. I sincerely hope you can get your number of subscribers up to where I think it can get to so that you are incented to keep making videos. The technical quality is top notch and the tips/lessons and information you share is definitely among the best I've seen. I don't know if you have a technical person that helps you make these (it seems by the quality you do!) but if I were as talented as you at not only playing the piano but teaching it, I would invest in a marketing person because your videos are that good and should command a huge audience well beyond the current number of subscribers you currently have. Good luck to you!

I’ve followed the piano roadmap and am just starting this course. I’ve played the piano following synthesia tutorials on YT for a while but I really wanted to understand more about the theory to possibly even create some new songs. Your explanations have been so clear and helpful and have motivated me to continue learning so thank you so much!

I like that you say you have made something available to us and you did. Thanks. I have really been attacking my scales and all the rest. There is so much it helps me to learn them in steps. But I don't get passed the chords and get the arpeggios and the inversions. Thanks for taking the time to share this really great information and for the motivation it has given me.

Enjoyed thus very much . I am an adult intermediate pianist … reviewing and relearning much of my music theory … I love the 12 day tracker … haven’t played / practiced the scales and arpeggios for a number of years … as an adult relearning and practicing… enjoying the journey. I appreciate how you have simplified and organized the lessons . Wonderful going back to basic and rebuilding my foundation . Thank you .

Hi Susan I am unsure if you still monitor comments from this video... I have just revisited it because I could not find the download for March -Tcherepnin. (I might be wrong but this link 'Raiders March' goes to Amazon :)... I really enjoy practising using your 12 video series. Thank you so much. Regards Peter

Hi, Peter! Most of the music from this series is provided for free, but you have to purchase the March on Amazon because I couldn't find a free score in public domain.

Hello, and thanks for sharing. I don't have a piano, but stud😅ying music for a hobby. I only suggest adding sheet notations for your arpeggios and the interval exercises of this challenge. Some of your subscribers would be able to read them instead of struggling trying to see which notes are being played. Or maybe I missed the book you use for written instructions. Anyway, I have been introduced to many topics just by watching a single video of your Challenge Series. Thanks So Much.
@PianoRoadmap Жыл бұрын
Hello! I had decided to add the PDFs for the MINOR key challenge, but haven't done this yet for the major key. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to do this soon :)
@inakalimba9428 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for considering adding the sheet notations for the Intervals and inversions of your Major Keys' Challenge . I found all the Major arpeggios on another Utube Instructor's site and I learned you played two octave arpeggios in the Cmaj. So, I feel confident that I can keep up with the challenge. Thanks for all you do.

Yes, but don't feel like you need to get through all the major keys. I'd suggest trying a few first and practicing the pieces that I give along with it.

Thanks for all your great videos! I have a question: What is the reason to jump instead of slide between chords? Is it because the jump relaxes the tension in the wrist or something?
@PianoRoadmap Жыл бұрын
The jump can relax your hand (but only if you consciously let it relax), but the real reason to jump instead of slide is that it's much more accurate AND faster. In pieces that are fast, sliding just won't cut it, tempo-wise. Jumping accuracy requires drills and practice, but once you have it, sliding will feel clumsy.

Hi Michael! I hadn't thought of it before, but I'll consider it. I used to burn CDs and DVDs all the time, but now I'm not even sure I have the tech to do so. Are you interested in a specific series?

Thank you for your great videos! I have a question regarding prelude in C. If this in the key of C, shouldn't be only white keys? Why do we have also sharps? :)
@PianoRoadmap2 жыл бұрын
Great question. Accidentals (sharps, flats, natural signs) are used by composers to temporarily change keys without having to change the key signature. Unless the piece is very simple and short, it is rare that you will find a piece that strictly stays in one key.
@Danii-77262 жыл бұрын
@@PianoRoadmap Hi Susan! Thank you for your answer.
@MellowManII2 жыл бұрын
For how long would you practice daily?
@PianoRoadmap2 жыл бұрын
There are many variables such as free time, goals, and current level, but if you're a fairly new pianist, I like to set goals comparable with learning a new language. 20 minutes/day is good, 30 min is best, and if you really want to learn as quickly as possible, 60 minutes/day. You can google spaced repetition and apply those same kind of concepts to piano practice/learning.
@brianreid-rutherford68713 жыл бұрын
You just taught us to play the 2nd inversion of the C major scale with fingering 135 , and then play the same chord inversion in the Bach Prelude 124 . I’m confused.
@PianoRoadmap3 жыл бұрын
HI Brian, good observation. The fingerings that we use for inversions and scales are standard, but they are never set in stone. They are the foundation, but we often alter them in "real" music depending on what comes before and what comes after. In the Prelude, the 1st measure RH is a 2nd inversion as you pointed out with E as the highest note. Then the 2nd measure has an F as the highest note. Therefore, it makes sense to use finger 4 in the first measure so I'm set up to play the F in the 2nd measure with my 5th finger. However, if it feels more comfortable for you to use the standard 2nd inversion fingering, go for it! While there are basic principles to fingering that we should try to follow, it's still personal depending on hand size, shape, finger length, etc.
