Күн бұрын

This week on Helicopter ER, the team springs into action when a 12-year-old boy falls 30 feet from a bridge, and a walker collapses in the Dales.
Strap in and fire up the helicopter engines for the most adrenaline-packed medical rescue missions you've ever seen on TV. This popular British series takes viewers into the cockpits of ER choppers to experience life or death dramas, high-speed action and colourful characters. The missions are often the only hope for the critically ill or badly injured in England's most unreachable landscapes.

That’s one hell of a parent. Instantly gets in his face to yell “I told you not to -blah blah blah.” Not asking if he’s okay or trying to comfort him like a parent would normally do, then she stands back and takes multiple pictures. Probably to post them on Facebook. I’m not even a parent but Id like to believe I would react differently if it was my child.

@@allyham7410 - Haha I just did the same my self 🙂 I'm not a parent either, but that doesn't matter. Loads of people whom have children are completely unfit to have them. Coming at this from a neutral position but with 3 boys and 3 girls..as well as being an RN myself...when my kids get hurt my instant split-second reaction is to do the same. But..that reaction only lasts about 2 seconds and it comes from a place of being absolutely mortified. So for me, to react crazy for a few seconds is just bcuz I'm so afraid for my children or now, their children. Still...no excuse for her behavior!

ALL children's should have helipads! Seriously all hospitals should by now. I can't imagine how challenging these helicopter emergency responders jobs are. Mind blowing. That poor kid that got hit by a hummer lemo. was heartbreaking and nail biting for sure. Mathew only 11 years old. I'd like to know what the particulars of that incident were. And they need to tear down that bridge that is by a park just so inviting to kids...I can just imagine it is a magnet for kids. Priorities sure need to be examined! I used to think I'd love to live in my ancestral home of Scotland...but wow, it sure would be only a place to live if you were ok with dying where you are in those far placed small villages that I would prefer...or way out in the country where there were very few humans. I would be fine with that at my age, but for those calling for help or making poor choices to mountain bike or go climbing, etc...I don't get their judgement. So many risking their lives to save them. Think before you act is so important.

People are trying to excuse this mother’s behavior by saying people can respond differently to fear and shock, but she doesn’t even seem upset at all. She sticks a finger in his face and gives an unnecessary “I told you so” speech, but there’s no panic or fear in her tone at all. Then, she stands back and takes pictures, trying to get the perfect angle, of her son and his gruesome injuries, and there’s no emotion on her face that indicates she is concerned or upset by her son being in a potentially lethal situation. I can’t see any justification for this behavior. She’s far too nonchalant for it to be explained away by shock or panic.

I can absolutely see myself behaving the exact same way in her shoes. If I'm angry,, I don't have to feel scared or out of control. I'd feel scared later, either after the anger has run out of steam, or once the situation improves and it's not so terrifying that I can't allow myself to feel scared. Emotions are not logical, you can't just say she ought not to feel that way.

Easy to judge from a distance but I agree with the concerns about the mom's behavior. Being hysterical and self-centered or crying or yelling or in any way overly agitated isn't normal or healthy. Yet most people expect this type of hysteria or are stunned when it isn't present. And I sure hope the photos were not for social media purposes but I fear those that think they were are right. Our culture rewards narcissism and fuels the addiction. Most adults never grow up and most should never be parents. Again, easy to say and harder to do but at some point we need to stop rewarding selfishness and emotionally weak people.

I had my 15 year old son come home very drunk. He started vomiting and the smell of vodka was very very strong. I cleaned up around him and he vomited again. I was so angry with him I told him he could clean up himself. I said that if he was sick, I would care for him but since it was self inflicted, he could clean up. Dumb, I know. I walked out of his room to calm myself down. I knew he wouldn't remember any lectures so those could wait till the next morning. He was saying some really ugly things in his drunken state. I figured I'd check on him in 15 minutes. Walked into his room after counting to 10 maybe 100 times. I walked into his room to find his younger brother cleaning up his vomit and taking care of him. My compassion ran away for a bit but not his brother's. But I knew yelling at him in his condition was truly a waste of time and was better at a different time. And then a day at his beside through the night. He didn't remember any of that.

I just have a question. How come your helicopters can't land at night, but ours can in the U.S.?
@boeing-lt4el
@boeing-lt4el 3 жыл бұрын
It's usually dictated by a companies standard operating procedures. At night, many medevac companies (including the US) won't pickup off-airport patients because you can't see a branch, powerlines, and other obstacles at night. Some may pickup but only from a well lit highway or a school playground so an ambulance would need to bring the patient there. Finally, some companies, usually in very rural areas, for example Montana, Idaho, Northern CA employ highly expereinced pilots and use Night Vision googles to land anywhere at anytime, often because there is simply no way a ground ambulance that can get the patient to a major trauma center in a reasonable amount of time.

I hate these damn motorcycles and I’m not exactly keen on the people that drive them because they caused so much problems

This is just soo strange watching them use a map. Everyone now a days uses GPS. I am sure they will one day come with it so they can use it on helicopters and airplanes. For that matter it can possibly be self flown no need of a pilot.

That baby has such a weird look. He reminds me of the trolls with the bright coloured hair we had as kids. Thank god moms and babies are OK. I am glad everyone is fine. These people are real heroes. About mom, I agree with her telling her kid off. He should not be there. She warned him and he ignored it. Now he is hurt because he didn't listen to his mother. And she had good reasons for not allowing a kid to play there. He could have been worse, or dead. My mom did the same when we were kids. If we did something stupid and got hurt, she cursed too. And no, we are not traumatized people, my brother and I. People need to stop wrapping their kids in bubble plastic. They need to be prepared for the world, you teach them how to be a grown up. And that means taking responsibility for what you do. And not listening to your mom means an angry mom.

There’s a difference between yelling/getting angry when your kid touches the hot stove when you warned them not to, and yelling in their face and taking pictures when they’ve had a potentially fatal injury and are screaming in pain. That was cruel. That wasn’t being a mother.

@Azha B you are so right. Waiting until he is stable and not laying on the ground with deformed limbs from broken bones is the correct thing to do. Poor little guy won't remember what mum said, just the anger thrown at him when he needed her love.

Just because that's how your mom raised you and you weren't damaged by it doesn't mean it is ok or right for other children.
