As soon as you quoted Boston-defeat-from-the-jaws-of-victory Mike ("cough up the cake!") the evaluation bar said "oh well...", gave a sad sigh and totally went the other way. You seem to be taking the games a bit more seriously lately, good to see that but it hurts more when you lose, especially from a winning position. Never mind, live and learn, go Team Forest!! :-)

I don't think you know what coffee chess is all about. Would you be watching without the trash talk?
@daveandrews5998Күн бұрын
@@stevefletcher52 I understand trash talk and how it makes things interesting. My point was that some players should give a bit more attention to playing better chess and a tad less trying to get attention. Mike talks trash but is funny, concentrates when he needs to , and is both a good winner and a good loser. Sadly, Forest seems to be trying to be Carlini, who never shuts up and whose attempts at humor fall flat 98% of the time

That's what I'd say normally except it seems like a lot of the games if not all of them have some level of fun "trash talk". It's nice because it's done in a tasteful way where they are still respectful and can tell it's all lighthearted. I think the kid is emulating the same talk because you can tell he knows his competition was tough and his early position was difficult. I don't think he was actually overconfident. Well played game by both players!
@stevefletcher52Күн бұрын
@@embergamedev I agree. Lots of folks on CC aren't happy with Forest's trash talking because they think it is disrespectful to adults. But the Coffee Chess premise is free speaking, making fun of, type banter. He learned it from Brian, Carlini and Boston Mike and I personally think it is funny and adds humor to an otherwise dull game. He's very good at it just like he's very good at chess..and he's only 12. He's not called a prodigy for nothing, The boy is very very bright academically and chess is a fun diversion for him. Anyone else know a genius who smiles frequently and can hold his own with the best of the club? Hikaru is one! Not many others. Please give him a break. I'm sure his parents don't like hearing negatives about him..warranted or not.
