I am making a surface lure from a Champagne cork which is sort of inspired by the Mirius mouse although I have had this same idea for about ten years. Has a screw attachment at the back so it can be a Rat, a Frog or a fish by changing the soft plastic at the back. Will be ready for testing tomorrow 👍

I got about ten years ago 6kg pike 106cm from a little river from Western Finland. I decided to keep that and I made a couple of fillets of it. That pike stomach was full of rats. That pike has two unmelted rats and one almost fully melted rat inside it. Nice video and amazing atitude and friendship. Always keeping me smiling! 😅 Have to try that kind of rat lure bu myself!

It makes sense that big pike would be rat eaters if given the chance. Easy catch and a big meal. They are big heavy fish, not energy efficient trying to catch small quick pray

If theres alot of pikes you can use even carrot with hooks or a piece of wood. Almost anything... Theres nothing special in spots full of pikes. Real masterpiece is to catch one where theres none. Where the bait mixed with skills really matters.

Cool vid! Just out of interest does it put any stress on the fish to be hanging and thrashing from a gill when handled like that? I appreciate nets can be a pain with hooks getting tangled etc so it's an easy quick way to keep hold of them.

the correct way to grab a pike is to reach into the "gill" part, it's the jawline they have, and grip the jaw from the inside. You avoid the teeth, and the pike have a tendency to open their mouth when you do it. If it's big always support it from the belly, but holding it to unhook, should always be like that.
