It’s a big job to be sure. On my 02 I’ve done the injectors, glow plugs, water pump, CP3, hydroboost and AC. I should’ve done the CP3 when I did the injectors looking back. I had over 200k when I did injectors, and pretty much everything was out of the way. Same when I did the FPR, I was nearly there when I did injectors. My advice is, if money permits, when you do injectors, do the CP3 and FPR at the same time, you’ll save SO much time over doing the same stuff over again. Also, replace ALL rubber lines you come across as you go, you’ll be glad you did when the old rubber lines don’t leak after all that work. Set aside a couple long days, don’t rush. It’s in your best interest to replace anything questionable while you have the stuff out of the way, it beats doing a lot of it 2-3 times.

Fantastic video. Only question I have is how do you use that tool for the lines that has the push release? Looks like a bunch of multi colored collars in a holder.? Thanks for the video.
@MeanBee392
@MeanBee392 Жыл бұрын
Thanks and sorry for the late reply. It is a bunch or multi colored collars that are sized to the lines in color coronation. You just take the right sized one and push it up into the fitting and it will release the internal fingers and allow you to pull on the line to remove it. Hopefully that helps!

Are they giving you a hard time by not having enough room or did they strip out? If it is because they are tight to get to I found that a 1/4 drive with a universal joint really helps getting to them. That's great to hear that you are finding the videos helpful! Thank you for taking the time to make this! Great job. I have an 02 lb7 that runs great, but I know that at some point will have an injector go bad. I'm an intermediate mechanic but have never done done anything this extensive. I am thinking that I want to do this job with my son's so they learn as well. Do you think this job is doable if you're not a pro mechanic? I have a shop and the tools to do it but I hesitate to do it because it is so extensive. What do you think? Keep up the good work!

You are very welcome and hopefully it will be helpful for you in the future! I think that it is a great idea to do a project like this with your son's for the bonding, experience and the memories that will be made lasting a life time. Having basic mechanic skills and a shop with tools this project would be very doable for you. I know it seems like a big project and can be a bit nerve racking thinking of doing it but once you start and get it finished you will be surprised how easy it ended up being. I think you would have no problem doing it and it will save you money, make memories along the way, and give you a huge sense of accomplishment. Use these video as a reference and feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to help you out. Hopefully that all makes sense and thanks for watching and commenting buddy! 🐝

Those can be very tough to get with the limited access. I found using a ball head allen socket along with a universal joint and some extension come in very handy for them. Hopefully that helps and will aid in getting them out. You’re welcome and I am glad to hear that you like the video. Thanks!

@@MeanBee392 Update: I started on the drivers side, which I realize now is the most difficult to get the valve covers off....but I did get them both off. If I have any advice for the next guys it would be this, "Be Patient" and don't muscle your way through the valve cover removal. I am happy to be looking at 4 new injectors installed in the drivers side and already have the covers loose on the passenger side in a fraction of the time!👍

Setting the valves on this is something you recommend while it's apart even though nothing was removed on the rocker assembly? Just wondering. Thanks
@MeanBee392
@MeanBee392 4 жыл бұрын
Just because you would have to remove and replace or pay to have the injector lines cleaned to get back to the valves so it is a lot easier at this point to adjust them. Great question and thanks for watching and commenting! 🐝
@TimsWorkshopTJY
@TimsWorkshopTJY 4 жыл бұрын
That actually brings up another question? When going into changing the injectors the kit has the lower cover gasket the fuel line clips and orings and seal washers for the injectors. The kit doesn't include the 4 per side fuel pipes? When you say cleaning the fuel lines you mean all the lines you removed and what did you clean them with?
@MeanBee392
@MeanBee392 4 жыл бұрын
No it does not contain the 8 high pressure lines or the 2 return lines. The only lines that you would have to clean would be the 8 high pressure lines because that needs to be clean fuel before entering the injectors. If you are going to clean them the best way is to have them sonic cleaned bu a machine. Hopefully that makes since and if you have any more questions I will do my best to answer them for you.

I just replaced my injectors in my lb7 and man it was a real pain because whoever was in there before me just about over torqued every bolt. But once it was all apart it wasn't that bad. Now my truck runs better than it ever has and no more smoke, surging idle, or diesel in the oil. Did you have a hard time getting the two bolts on the back side of the valve cover on the driver side? I ended up using a ratchet with a universal joint to break them loose.

That's awesome to hear that you also changer your injectors your self! Man that's a bummer that all the bolts all so tight. I had the opposite problem and over half of mine were hand tight at very best and a dealer was in mine before I was and that makes me wonder how good of a job they did... That's awesome to hear that yours is also running great. Those back bolt on the drivers side were put there by the devil him self lol! They were a real pain but I did the same thing as you did and used a universal joint to get the too. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers to changing our injectors our self's!

@@MeanBee392 yup they did finally come out with lots of elbow grease. And unfortunately they lifted the cups out some. It ended up being all good as I bought an injector cup removal tool and pulled all the cups and reloctited. The tool made it so easy that I couldn't afford not to do and risk having a leak.the truck turned out great and runs awesome. I got some smoke yet but hoping it will go away soon as the muffler burns all old excess fuel out. Otherwise I will have Lincoln Diesel in WI help me out as they are great. Love their SAC45 injectors that I installed and their Service. Again I can't Thank You enough for your video as you got me thru this job. YouDaMan😃. i got my injectors changed out about 60k miles ago, truck only has 190k on it. started noticing the white haze at idle, realized if i wanted something done right i had to do it myself. i pulled all 8 out and 7 of them look the same but one has a bunch of numbers where the hold down grabs the injector. if those were the stock injectors you took out could you tell me if they had numbers there or not. feeling like the shop i took it too ripped me off. i’d really appreciate your help
@MeanBee392
@MeanBee392 4 жыл бұрын
Mine did have numbers on the body of the injector. Hopefully you did not get ripped of by a shop. 60K is really not that meany miles but unfortunately the VOC injector style in the LB7 do not last very long and it seems 60 to 100K is about average. The SAC style is a must in my book because they will last a lot longer. Are you replacing your injectors? If so what ones are you going with? I know if you buy them from Lincoln Diesel Specialties when you send your cores back they will check the injectors and numbers to let you know if they were all changed. They did that for me because I had the same suspicions as you are having with yours. Hopefully this is a bit helpful and if you have any other questions let me know and I will try to help you out buddy! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Question. I’m going to be replacing my injectors on my 2002 Lb7 soon. I’m running a super chip programmer flash paq. There is like 4 different power levels. The hottest tune gives just enough fuel to haze black smoke with my stock factory injectors. If I were to put in 30% over or 45% over injectors with my stock cp3 would I pick up any power ? Or is it only worth running larger oversized injectors with a hotter programmer
@MeanBee392
@MeanBee392 4 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! On my last set up with stock injectors and Edge tuning it would smoke black a lot and on my new set up it hardly smokes but has a lot more power and runs so much smoother. What I am saying that just because you don't see a lot of black smoke doesn't mean you pickup is int making good power or is set up right when in reality less smoke means it is running more efficient. As for running over sized injectors with your stock CP3 you will pick up power. It always best to have tuning match with your injectors and in the end it's what you are looking for to get out of your pickup. Hopefully this all makes sense and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask. Thanks for watching and commenting!

MeanBee392 So after further research I’ve realized I need to run 45% sac style injectors because of numerous reasons vs a VCO style. I just want to make sure that they will be fine with a stock CP3 and super chip programmer
@MeanBee392
@MeanBee392 4 жыл бұрын
That's very true and that's why I went with the SAC style they are just a much better option. They will work fine with the stock CP3 and the programming. LDS also offers a stock size SAC style now I believe but I would recommend calling them because they are very helpfully and will be able to guide you in the right direction. Ask to speak with Brent or Bob and tell them you saw my video and sent you, they are a great group of people!

I know this is old, but you can run stock tune with 45s to get you by, But it is best to get your truck tuned for them. Don't risk running a hotter tune meant for stock Injectors on bigger injectors. You will over fuel and potentionally destroy a piston.

thanks so much for this. All I ever see is 'just do this, that, and the other thing' but not really show/explain what the hell they are doing. My 01 LB7 just threw a code for the injector sensor. (#2) I have 300k miles and have had the injectors replaced 4 times. I'm at the crossroad. Do this job, and replace the injectors, or just the sensor? What do you think? Is it worth doing it twice? Or just once and tossing injectors that are still good? Or just do the sensors? (Driver's side only.) I subscribed and thanks again for the great video! I know in the long run, it's up to me and me alone, but I'd like an opinion from someone who has done the job.

You are very welcome and I am really glad to hear that you found this video helpful and informative! That is a tough question to answer because it really depends on where you are sitting financially. If doing the full set is going to strap you for money then I would just do the sensor and then start saving up. If you are in the position to be able to afford the injectors then I would highly recommend that and would only recommend doing the SAC style then you will no longer have the stock LB7 injector problems. Hopefully that helps out a bit and thank you so much for your support subscribing, watching and commenting I really appreciate it! 🐝
