its a great tutorial, i think the reason is the slow video as in low frame rate. its kinda annoying to view it. I recommend you to use a different screen recorder. Use something like fraps ( used to record gaming videos so you'll maintain the frames. cheers.

dilshan1994 Thanks for the feedback! I use Camtasia. It has frame settings. Ironically, I used the settings recommended to me by O'Reilly for a 123D course I did for them. Do my other vids here have the same issue or is it just this one?

Hi, just started learning Autodesk 3D software of which Fusion 360 was the first choice after using it for a while decided it was to confusing for my 3D printing needs. Second choice was 123D Design and really liked it although there are some needed featured found in 360 not found in 123. After watching many basic videos was disappointed they were not clear on audio and details. Then I found your videos and they are my selection for learning 123D software. Thank you for concise and fun videos, great job.

hi I'm not really sure what you are trying to achieve with these gears as you need 45 deg angles on both gears to mesh correctly. but I thank you for helping with tool manipulation If it wasn't for you I would still struggle with loft!.

The manly voice on the website is so much better. Listening to this woman makes me think like I am 13... Tip for the developers: know the audience who you are dealing with, this makes things further on much better in a way your audience like. Like the voice, although the youtube people are a lot of young, but information like this shouldn't be so slow-talked like I am 13.

Thank you for doing this. It has got me trying to do it myself. I do not understand how you create the teeth or at what angle is the block. The block can be set to the same angle as the circle but what about the other 2 planes, what angle are they? It looks so easy when you do it!

I'm not sure if the use of a gear is understood here, I thought this might describe how to make gears that mesh, but it appears I'm in the wrong part of KZbin here. I am wondering though, why make gears if they aren't going to mesh with any other gears?

One last question for this example within 123D before I also attempt to recreate this gear (as you have masterfully taught us to do) within the fusion 360 environment: How would I adjust the teeth (if I wanted to change to a helical angle or other adjustment) within 123D once the clircle patten is of teeth has been created? And again, thank you for ALL of you magnificent tutorials!!! :-D
@ProfDrafting9 жыл бұрын
+TheRangeControl Thanks, glad you liked it! In 123D, once you array the teeth, you can't change them all together; you'd have to change each separately. So best to have the tooth the way you want it before arraying. I don't know Fusion's features -maybe it has a "component" feature like SketchUp where, if you change one, they'll all change.

@ProfDrafting8 жыл бұрын
+Robert cat You need to export it as a .dwg file (design menu/export as 2d/export as dwg/dxf). Then import it into AutoCAD to create scaled drawings or into the web app Autocad 360, where you can do a scaled layout. Here's a vid on the latter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmXUeK1phs6moJo

+ProfDrafting I actually saw it again at 2:18, and saw the square and line profile disappear. So, I am wondering what qualifies as a sketch, and what does not.
@ProfDrafting9 жыл бұрын
+TheRangeControl Anything 2D is a sketch. Anything 3D is a solid. You can hide both sketches and solids.
@TheRangeControl9 жыл бұрын
+ProfDrafting that took me a second to process as it is viewed within a 3D space... ...but, my mind finally decided to comprehend. LOL
@ProfDrafting9 жыл бұрын
I was probably hiding the circles earlier. Sketches will interfere with operations you want to do on solids; you can't "reach" beneath them to select the solids. So either delete or hide the sketches as you work.

I honestly think you know a lot about 123dDesign, and I do learn a lot with your video's, but I don't think you understand how a gear works. Your creation will never function as a gear because the angles are wrong and you didn't round the teeth of the gear. Nevertheless, I now know how to start with building a gear in 123dDesign, and I also know how things should be made a little different. Thanks for your video.
@ProfDrafting8 жыл бұрын
I know the angle is wrong, it was addressed in other comments. :) It was a subscriber request, I really wasn't interested in modeling a gear otherwise!

I don't mean any offense by this... but while I appreciate the video, the manner in which you speak in it is beyond ear raking... The tone is that of one talking down to a little baby: slow and mildly condescending... while the words used to describe actions, methods, and tools, are that of someone trying to over compensate with an appearance of intellect and knowledge of the subject matter.... Its like listening to an English speaking Ph.D professor trying to teach a class of Korean kids during their first ever year of school... But as I said, I appreciate the video, but the vocabulary and tone of speaking is dramatically offputting...
