I would of never though of using heat shrink on the handles, great idea!!!

As you know it's some useful stuff for repairing 👍 😊

I've got a set of them pretty much identical. May even be the same brand. When I found them they were so rusted I couldn't use them. I just used some household stuff to get rid of the rust. Working perfectly now and I use them a lot. I like the button you press to adjust them. Great video.

that was a ton of fun to watch. I use shrink sleeves on occasion for wires but never thought about using it for tool handles. I have also never heard of plastic dip. I definitely need to look into trying that out!!!

Thanks, both are useful things for the workshop 🛠👍😊

I so wanted to this. Thank you for the great video. Will try it on some pliers I have.

The plasti dip will probably hold up to normal use on it's own in the workshop so you could stop there, Heatshring is some good stuff for all kinds of repairs 👍

No thank you. Learning something new.

Great vid, think I'd have to plasti dip just the ends after heat shrink to get rid of the rough Ness, glad to see your plasti dip hadn't hardened!!!

Thanks, I bought it a year or two ago and it's still good but took a LOT of stirring to get it useable 👍

Use to work with a guy who would use old plastic water supply lines to fix his tool handles . Worked great
@Everythings_Adjustable5 ай бұрын
That's another good idea, I think the new plastic pipes plumbers are using nowadays might work aswell

I have done the shrink tubing on old pliers before. It holds up better than you would think. The hard part is finding the tubing in the larger sizes.

@Everythings_Adjustable3 жыл бұрын
It is some good stuff but I've found it not as hard wearing as I would like it to be, If you do get some I would suggest you stir it up very very well Mate 👍 😉

@@Everythings_Adjustable a guy on here once showed me a great way to stir shake up some paint with a reciprocating saw, I may try that method! 😎

What the purpose of plastidip if it's covered with heat shrink tube? Why not just the heat shrink only?
@Everythings_Adjustable Жыл бұрын
Just to fatten the handles up a bit, also it makes the handles feel a bit nicer in hand
@coldbringer95452 жыл бұрын
I have found Plasti-Dip to be much more durable if you let it cure (outgas) for several days before use. Also, to finish the ends of tools with heat shrink tubing: cut a section of tubing the length of the handle diameter, cut that in half, slide this "cup" up into the end and shrink together with outer sleeve. After doing a few tools you can achieve an almost "seamless" finish. Unrelated: What is the knife you used in your "Splitting Maul Re-handle" video? It looks like a miniature Australian Army machete.
@Everythings_Adjustable2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I will try that method next time it always looks unfinished at the ends when I I do it, I've just answered your knife question in the other video 🛠️👍😊

I never seen a short can of plasti dip the ones I have are longer for dipping. I like the heat shrink on top, great idea. I have a video where I put the heat shrink first then the plasti dip, your way is more durable.
@Everythings_Adjustable3 жыл бұрын
Yes I wish I had a taller can it would be better for longer stuff, I just used the dip on my wire cutters and it wore through, as you say the heatshrink is more durable, Just going to look at your newest video now...
@ruhtra-k2 жыл бұрын
One thing I have noticed with heat shrink is that the 3:1 leaves a thicker finished product than the 2:1. Especially the ones with the glue in them, like the marine heat shrink. Never thought of using heat shrink on tool handles. Will have to try that!
