Great getting free wood. The only bad thing is dragging the logs thru the dirt.

That's one nice thing about winter cutting, the wood stays so much cleaner. I have over 30 cords of blicks cut and stacked waiting for the splitter. I have a tree service and no help, no idea how i will ever get it all split, just trying to get enough for my own use this year. Luckily most of it was standing dead ash I cut this past spring. I know that will be dry enough by January when I need it. The mix of woods I have accumulated is interesting. Red oak, hickory, maple, ash, aspen, cottonwood, boxelder, cherry, apple. black locust, red and grey elm, no white oak so far but looking for it. It's pretty much the same mix as your collection.

Great load of wood. The problem with those double trees is that the limb load is always one-sided and they are also leaning away from each other and toward the limbs, so double whammy unless they happen to lean the way you want. I've seen those that cut them down as one, but that is way over my paygrade. You picked a great place to hide on that partial barber chair. The guy pulling them up to the load out is doing you a great favor. I tend to leave stuff alone unless I can get a truck and trailer up to it. Another great video and you are hustling that heat.

Thanks again Phil, your right on those split trunks, they are always a real trick or treat!

Good morning Chris!!😀😀 It always sucks when you get down to the corner of a property like that one. Those big heavy leaning ash are so dangerous to cut. Especially when you have to drastically try and change their direction. Take care my friend!! TTYL!!

Yes without big equipment sometimes your better to walk away. How much snow did you get last night, our ground is covered.
@aldredske61974 жыл бұрын
@@InTheWoodyard we got a good strong inch or so. I really don't want to go play in it. It's too early for snow to be sticking to the ground. LOL!!

Chris, I have a question for you. I know this video is older and maybe now you think differently. Would you do this again at this point? I can buy logs delivered to my woodyard for 100 dollars a full cord. That is 33 dollars a face cord. I feel cutting trees is not the best use of my limited available time. I used to always cut trees down and take the wood but as my business grew it became harder and harder to justify the time. Like you I have a full-time job. I am an electrician at Excellerate by the Little Chute exit. If you have a minute I would appreciate your thoughts. You sell way more firewood than I do but I am working on it. I sold about 100 face cord since March of this year. This is my first year selling. Thanks, and keep on keeping on!

Seems like you like using everything but your axe to hammer in the wedge when bucking :D Pretty nice, that the guy pulled all the trees for you to just cut! Besides, what happened to the wet field you where cutting at a bunch just a couple weeks ago, will you be back there?
@InTheWoodyard4 жыл бұрын
Eventually, I will not for a while yet though.The crops have to come off the fields and it would also be nice if the ground was frozen again too.

Hi Chris, I have watched lots of your videos and enjoy them. I have a question for you, I cut a fair amount of wood each year as I use it for heating, living in Northern Illinois we both know how nice the weather can be. I have both Stihl and Husqvarna saws. My question for you is of the Husky saws you have which one do you like the best and why. The reason I am asking is I am going to purchase a bigger saw and would like your input. Thank you for your time....

Yes, absolutely. I really like the 572xps, auto tune ,I just runem' and they cut.

Hi Chris, I have watched lots of your videos and like them all, question I cut a fair amount of wood each year as I burn it in the winter. I live in Northern Illinois and we both know how nice the weather can be. I have both types of chain saws both Stihl and Husqvarna.
