best regards it is to limit the gate charging current. in any abnormal condition the other circuit will not be affected. we can use 10 ohms to 1K

So what happens when the mosfet is bad?

if it is short circuit, it will give continuity without any test signal. and if it is not turning on, then the mosfet is open circuit
