President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed his gratitude to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for their contributions that led to the success of his Administration’s endeavors as the Department celebrated its 125th anniversary.
“I’m very, very happy to be able to stand here before you and say that thanks to your very hard work, very skilled work, the great experience that you bring to bear, these trips that we have taken have been quite successful because they have been so well put together,” the President conveyed.
This year’s celebration highlighted the values and goals of the DFA in upholding the Philippines’ interest through the awarding of various employees for their commendable efforts in catering to the needs of overseas Filipinos around the world.
On behalf of President Marcos Jr., Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo led the awarding ceremony to several recipients, including the 2023 Gawad Mabini which is conferred upon DFA personnel who have shown acts of merit that are reflective of the traditions of the country’s foreign service.
The DFA was established on 23 June 1898 during the founding of the Philippine Revolutionary Government through a decree issued by President Emilio Aguinaldo.
