I loved this game. Played it loads in the UK in the 80s. Went on at the beginning of the evening in a pub once and left it at closing time with several free credits on. A single coin lasted all night. Great memories. Thanks for the upload.

You got me that time Todd with the shock gag. Why would someone that is planning to vend the machine want regular bulbs in it? Don't they know it'll last longer with LEDs? Sad. Great video as usual guys.
@tntamusements7 жыл бұрын
Well, I think perhaps to keep it as original as possible...not an issue...remember, we only HAD lightbulbs for over 70 years...these LED's started in 2011 I believe!

When the displays aren't working, i always test for high voltage by running my finger along the pins of the display, if I don't get a big enough kick i lick my finger and try again, am I doing something wrong ? as I've been doing this for many years and I'm still alive. i always thought this was a quick and easy test you can do without any tools handy. Just recenly I tested a box of 65 displays I aquired , noting the faults needing repairing in each display or marking them as OK, by live swapping them pretty quicly and waggling connectors and pins, , I must have got zapped about 50 times, however only dropped and broke 1 display and that was because I was drunk as a skunk and tripped over the extension lead and not because of the shocks. Another thing I found on the the Vector, yes I have one, actually I have 2 of them, best vintage pinball machine ever made, and other machines using the same sound board is if you lick your finger and stick it between the legs of one end of a chip and a adjacent resistor on the soundboard, you get crystal clear reception of a local radio station playing through the speaker, i kid you not, I can't remember the exact place you have to stick your finger without looking at the board, however try it and see, it will surprise you when you hear the radio on your pinball machine. It's approx. half way along and about 2 inches down on the sound board. Before everyone calls BS, just wait, only a matter of time before someone confirms this fact. !!!

Wow, knowing the Vector is getting vended, I'm surprised they went with all incandescent bulbs. Going to LED would mean less service for bulb burnouts, and less heat on the plastics/paint, and even save money on electric. I get some people wanting the bulbs to look "period correct", but they have the "retro" bulbs that glow like an incandescent bulb, but provide all the positive attributes of an LED bulb. To each their own I guess.
@tntamusements7 жыл бұрын
Yes...keeping it original is more important...and once again, we ONLY had light bulbs until 5 years ago!

No!No!No! The top flipper is 3" from the entire run of Vector!!!! The production engineer made the decision a long time ago during development of the whitewood. As he said, " it was to get the ball out of the top playfield, and make the H,Y,P,E, targets a more relevant feature." Look at your first video from 30 years ago! That game was a sample unit and it had the 3" flipper on the top playfield. I wish I had the means to record the conversation I had with the production engineer at the time; such a lost.
@tntamusements5 жыл бұрын
In Www.iodb.org it says the designer DID put a 2" flipper on it and gives his reasoning even though the manual says 3". It's hard to argue with that written fact! I suppose the owner could change it out but the 2" works well.
@mr.dan71445 жыл бұрын
Grieg Kmiec was the designer, not the final production engineer that was in charge of the assembly line and parts used for the game. Like I said ... I wish I had the means to record the talk I had back in 1983 about Vector's construction. There are some neat things about it that nobody knows...The mistakes that were made in the designs of some of the components etc,etc,etc. What the game's designer intended and what the game's final outcome are, are two different things... The game had to make money not give away free games left and right... You are only as good as your last game you have made... Look at your early video of the Vector game you guys did back in the 1980's. The game has the 3" flipper on top. Look at the games brochure... it has a 3" flipper on the top playfield. The entire production run of Vector was done with a 3" flipper on the top playfield. Trivia time: Vector had two more lamps that were removed, where were they on the game?
