I recall a korean ammo manufacturer made pistol rounds of a similar design. It came out just before I shipped overseas (mid 80s) but was gone when I got back stateside. I could find no articles on why they failed, but suspect they had issues with the plug in the back to contain the pressure. Evan's round and your loading seem far more sucessful. Congratulations!

This episode takes me back to the pipe rounds you did (simpler times), where the energy of the powder just blew out the center, the loading techniques you use have really evolved. My favourite bit is the long-standing ‘Table Top’ bit of the video, explaining the slugs etc, and this one was a beauty. I had a feeling that a penny would come into use and considering the cost, I doubt you could find a metal disc cheaper anywhere else unless you were buying millions at a time. @9:01 the penny is quite interesting. Deformation can be seen from the pressure that tried to go through the hollow slug. Also, the spin from the rifling as well as the wake from the slug allowing it to fly is something I didn’t expect as most flat things just tumble wildly. Even after misting a few particles of gel, maybe liquid, it seems to keep on chooching! Cool!
