Happy to see it was restored, and they didn't feel the need to stretch the frame 10 feet.

Brockways are some of the greatest tractors ever built. And the Buzzin' Dozen RULES even to this day.

You ghuys need to get a hold of that guy that does the busses with Detroits in them. He is really good at setting the rack and getting the injectors set right..

Nothing against BGM, he’s great but this truck had a concourse level restoration, at one point it was for sale for $250,000 dollars and the owner decided not to sell after being offered the asking price. I highly doubt a self trained photographer (that’s what Scott is, look it up) do anything to this engine to make it run better than the men who restored this truck. They painstakingly chromed the valve covers and blower inlets, every part was mic’ed, weighed and matched. This is THE nicest example of a 12v71 powered road tractor I, and many others have ever seen. (Yes, I’ve seen and heard it run in person at the cortland show in 2019).

@@mikeskidmore6754 Yes sir...I was just being humorous because we never got to see the tow rig. It starts out with this truck pulling itself off the trailer.

I miss hearing the sounds of a Detroit 2 cycle. Drove plenty of 6-71, 6v-71, 8v-71, and 8v-92Ts over the years.

lucky bastard my generation only has to deal with c15, isx, and paccars all junk engines, last good engines were 3406 and the n14

JOE DURT Detroit Series 60 are darn good engines and they’ve been proven to last more then the Cats ( with all due respects) the cats do have a ton of muscle in them and I own one, but the Detroit 12.7 is just as long lasting or more then the cat

Great Restoration..... Beautiful, but that poor "buzzin dozen" desperately is in need of the rack, injector height, governor and booster spring (on variable speed governor) to be correctly set, by someone who knows the correct Sequence, of adjustments and with (preferably) a Dial indicator... for the injector, and bridge settings.
@JRotten6 жыл бұрын
2Stroke Diesel Power It will be hard to find a mechanic to do that. Damn, I can't remember the last time I "ran a rack". And lets face it, a great tune is all in the feel.....😀😀😀

The booster spring has no function in with governor operation. It is there to hold the control lever open whenever the throttle is cable controlled. A variable speed governor would never be installed in a truck anyway.

Rack out needs sync. No one knows what that is today..lol...like carbs and points... A guy I know had a dd 471which no one could start for weeks even with either...Young mechanics didn't know about the flap on blower closed. They were ready to take the head off...lol

Cobb Knobbler+ interesting name. Most good mechanics I know can handle both just fine. They taught themselves the new stuff as it came along. Yes we should laugh at mechanics who cant work on the old stuff if they didn't make the effort to learn and instead needed to be trained. Big difference. Real easy access to info these days if you haven't noticed. Stop waiting to "be trained" and teach yourself to work on old equipment if it offends you that much. Lots of it laying around pretty cheap

@Cobb Knobbler Hey easy dude! Show some respect for a dude that has lived it! Something you ain't done yet boy!
@cindytepper88785 жыл бұрын
@Cobb Knobbler What passes for a mechanic today dosen't understand how things work, and only knows unit replacement. They never repair anything because they don't really understand the function of anything. And half the time they replace the wrong parts and do a butcher job of replacing the wrong part and in so doing, create another problem
@cindytepper88785 жыл бұрын
@Cobb Knobbler I sure as hell see what kinds of retards show up when we are hiring. And all the other shop owners around here say the same thing. None of these guys are mechanics, they can't even do unit replacements without screwing it up
@williamgibb55575 жыл бұрын
With TLC, the older trucks are easier, cheaper and more forgiving to work on. All mechanical and no electronics can still make this world go. If it ever happens, an EMP will park all your trucks, and ours will keep on purring and saving the world!
