Excellent presentation. Thank you Carolyn and Ron. I wonder what happened to the Indigenous peoples where I live. My family moved to the Bathurst and Roselawn area and I read somewhere that there was an Indigenous "camp" (settlement?) here, and that they were still here when the first settlers started populating Forest Hill. Old Forest Hill Road was actually an Indigenous path. At some point in the late 1800s or early 1900s they "retreated" (sadly). They left behind pottery fragments, arrowheads, etc. But I don't see any signs, unfortunately. Out of respect and to keep these peoples in mind, I wonder how I could find out who they were, where they went and what happened. Even with the treaties and Toronto purchase, I guess Indigenous peoples were still living here. It seems to be a missing piece of Toronto history.
