@@joelt1002 no generally speaking what happens is there are rules put into place, then there’s the grey area which includes stuff that’s either not explicitly said its not allowed or just were not known of at the time. Then the rules committee makes adjustments and ads new rules to address said grey areas.

@@kylejones1532 People use it as a crutch for learning, but you'd be surprised how little of a difference plugins make at this level. Main use is just seeing each other's specs and not having to be in comms constantly saying specs. Even sote maze barely saves any time, like 5 seconds

@@kevinsmith4220 I don’t disagree, but I also don’t agree. To an extent, plug-ins do help, and when you’re going for time 5 seconds on a sote maze is a lot. On the other hand, it really is a convenience matter and any speed Tobber could do Tob without plug-ins. At the end of the day, they’re illegal, and making a video with your main and posting it is asking to get banned but nonetheless the time is sweet.

Personally wish jagex could actually enforce their rules, but until then I see no reason not to use them. They make the game more relaxed and enjoyable without dealing with 5 second long death animations and such

Being in a socket is nice but I was in one for a week and decided it just wasn’t for me. Made me not enjoy tob as much but some do definitely like it and I’m alright with it. At the end of the day we all play the game to have fun so who gives a shit.

Maiden drains the stats of the attack style you're using. Going from 118 strength to 117 or less means losing at least 3 max hits because of the way scythe calcs damage. So you don't want that

I'm not going to lie 90% of the time i just cheat clients that alleviate the menial things like counting ticks, hearing your metronome and using animations as signals. It's just a more pleasant experience and it's totally fine if you think I'm rule breaking and it's wrong. I just wanted a more stress free tob or speed run. As those are my favourite things. I'm all for challenging yourself i did learn tob the right way and i never leverage the client to play the game for me.

Some of the stuff isn't too bad, but still goes against the rules, like AoE warnings for example. Then there is stuff like sote maze plugin which is just a massive advantage in speed runs. It's just baffling to me that we somehow ended up thinking it's fine to use this since many people does. What's the limit to this in speed runs, when would somebody say "okay this is too much and not acceptable"

@@Juhhoo1 Jagex says one thing but does another. Jagex can't enforce client rules. Because they don't have the technology to detect it. At the end of the day it's just overlays that reads game code. Jagex would have to ban every client or allow every client. If runelite was the new vanilla client i would be all for it. But Jagex is just lazy and would let all of us carry on.
