Never use mega potions to heal health. Instead bring max potions and its crafting materials to bring a total of 12 max potions. (Kinda joking but I do do this for Arch Tempered hunts) If you’re trapping for damage, feel free to chain traps and permastun with trap chains. Once you get down to that 1s trap duration you can still trap for the short stun combo. If you need to capture a monster afterwards you can preemptively tranq bomb it. Understand which items need a specific crafting radial command and which don’t. Flashpods and traps can both be crafted with the use command. MBB on the other hand require the craft command because the use command defaults into using a crafting recipe most players don’t use. I swear bandit mantle is damage based, not number of hits based but it might help. Ive seen over a dozen shinies fly out of a sleeping monster hit by a TCS. Correct mounting etiquette. Don’t do any of the following for important hunts: flash, KO, trap, or fell the monster (strong flinches like Kushala head flinch) Extra tip: breaking parts of tempered monsters now net you more tempered investigations. Overall pretty useful tips but nothing a veteran like me didn’t know ;) Keep up the work my man

whatchu mean about the use command? Is there a faster way to craft flash pods?
@PongzeLor6 жыл бұрын
+James Felt It's not a faster way but a different way that can save space. There are 2 ways to craft flash pods with the radial menu. 1: customize the radial menu to craft a flash pod. This allows you to craft a flash pod if you're missing at least one. 2: customize the radial menu to equip a flash pod. This allows you to equip and unequip flash pods. **If you don't have any flash pods on you, this will craft a single flash pod** The second option saves space and is a 1 for all option while the first option will let you upkeep on flashpods so you don't run dry... BUT there's a technique for the second option that will also let you upkeep on flash pods. To set the scene, you just used your final slinger ammo. You flashed rathalos out of the air and your slinger is empty. Now you craft a flash pod but you have to reequip it again. Equipping flash pods take time so you end up wasting a few seconds. This can happen multiple times in a hunt especially if you're flashing 10+ times. In order to avoid this you can craft a flash pod with the second option (works for the first too but that's redundant) right as you use your last slinger flash pod. Instead of simply running out, your hunter will automatically reload the slinger like you've never run out of ammo. As you can see the first option loses all its uniqueness. About the only thing it can do that the second can't is to craft all the remaining flashbugs into flash pods in order to make space for an item.

For the first time I tried to treat KZbin like a normal job. Meaning instead of how I normally work which is about 16 hours a day for usually 7 days straight of non-stop editing until a video is done, I tried to only work for 8 hours each day and not on the weekends. It took 112 hours to finish this video, aka 3 work weeks. During this time my income plummets, my numbers plummet because I did not upload for such a long period. KZbin is not a quality over quantity platform, and the KZbin gods demand a sacrifice in the form of constant video uploads to appease them otherwise the content creator suffers. I'm pretty confident people don't understand how hard many KZbinrs actually work. My point is; when content creators don't upload all day every day, it's important to support them. Please, don't get on a creator's case for not uploading enough. With that said... I am going to start uploading more again. As always, I appreciate your interest in the channel.

Great video. Just reached 1200 hours of MHW and Iceborne. Had a good time playing it during pandemic. Some little more advanced tips I wish I could've learned: 1. Never sell all the monster materials from the start. I especially regret doing this. Cause you may need them later to craft weapons and armors. Or you may end up hunting the similar monster again and again. Especially the gems which are usually hard to get. Of course you can sell them later. You can sell them a few, like around 5-10 if you're running out of Zeni. I would keep mining and sell those ores since you can keep grinding them later during expedition. 2. Save armor spheres for later. I regret using them all from the start. Use them for high rank armors. 3. Study the monster's weakness. You can go talk to Chief Ecologist and click Monster Field Guide. It tells you what each specific monster is weak against. Then you can craft the weapon for that specific monster to give enough elemental damage to counter it. Like Diablos for example, it's heavily weak against ice. So you may need an ice weapon to give more damage. 4. For radial menu, click Options, change Radial Menu Settings and Item Control Settings to Type 2, then go to Customize Radial Menu, then you can change the setup whichever you like. However this is something I missed. I forgot to save the item load out. Go to the item box and save the load out by clicking option then register for load out. This way you won't end up losing the saved version during the fight. 5. Some items can be handy. Bring Astera Jerky (heals red/yellow portion), Nulberry and Health Boost. If you get annoyed by Lunastra for example. You can save the item load out and rename "Lunastra." 6. Prioritize crafting your armors. Get many jewels for set decorations as much as possible. I would highly recommend to do bunch of tempered investigations. These fights can be hard, but if you fire an sos the teammates are usually really good, so this might be probably the easiest way for grinding them. For example Vaal Hazak can be annoying sometimes so what you do is basically having maxed out Effluvia Resistance. You can get it by crafting an armor that has this effect or to find the jewel like Miasma Jewel and add it to your armor. Also maxing out Blight Resistance can be handy when you're dealing with monsters that give you elemental damage. 7. Another way to do is to create the charm and upgrade it to max. This way you don't have to get stressful when you don't have enough slots for upgrades. 8. Tailraider Safari and Argosy port. This way you can grind some materials every time you go out to hunt and come back. 9. Botanical Research Center. I would normally like to drink a regular demondrug, armorskin and immunizer every time I go out for a hunt. In order to drink these, you may need some specific materials like Might Seed, Adamant Seed, Bitterbug and Honey. Ivy and Spiderweb for Pitfall Traps. Thunderbug for Pitfall Traps. Sleep Herb and Parashroom for Tranq Bombs. Mega Nutrients and Mandragora for Max Potions. Godbug and Blue Mushroom for Lifepowders. This is where cultivating gets handy. You can also click Fertilize and expand amount of cultivating or speeding it up. 10. Always bring Max Potions whenever you go out and fight. Have Mandragora and Mega Nutrients into your item slot, that way you can drink up to 5 Max Potions. You can also bring Mega Potions for backup. I once tried to solo Nergigante but at first I died very quick by its super dive while trying to drink a mega potion. Another way to do is speed eating, but you may need a jewel like Gobbler Jewel. 11. Use voucher or gourmet voucher to get the skills like Felyne Safeguard or Insurance. This way you get less chance to fail the quest. For eating, I highly recommend to eat Veggie Platter for Elemental Resistance, especially when you get annoyed by monsters like Deviljho, Teostra or Kirin. 12. This is pretty minor, but try to farm points to get palico armors and layered armors. If you want to look good in front of people. I would just normally keep hunting elder dragons like Nergigante and get Dragon Treasures. Or get Wyvern Tears from large monsters. Another way to do is to do a Beryl farming at Elder's Recess. 13. Familiarize your weapon, try out different weapons and get used to the rhythm of battling. I was slowly getting better by keep dying, learn from mistakes and got help from bunch of my teammates. Not much to say :)

Not attacking a monster while a player is mounted is archaic advice. Not flashing a monster while a player is mounted is better advice. Although true you can use the mounting time to sharpen and prepare for the drop, you lose out on a lot of DPS while the monster flails about and the other players sit about waiting for it to topple. Whether the mounter drops the creature or not, the monster collapses either way (with rare exceptions). This rule changes as some monsters are too dangerous while being mounted and could harm a player during its flailing. Regardless, mounting etiquette is a rule created for older Monster Hunter games; where damaging a monster while mounted hit the player off the mounted monster, cancelling his mount. Of course this is no longer true.
@sonicfraisheya40286 жыл бұрын
Jose Lazo i still think near endgame. Its better to sharpen while the monster is mounted as our white gauge during that time is mostly used up and that everyone could position themseleves correctly when the monster topples down(elder dragon just loves to fly around while mounted). That DPS that you do when the monster topples is massive when everyones in tiptop sharpness and just eaten a power seed or two..
@joselazo97996 жыл бұрын
I completely agree, I should have specified that the rule changes depending on what you hunt, though your statement isn't always true for the "end game". Nergigante doesn't fly, neither does Behemoth, Kulv Taroth, Deviljho (not an elder), or Kirin. From my experience, the people I've played with have long white bars, Razor Sharp, Protective Polish, or Master's Touch (I always equipment inspect), usually coupled with Speed Sharpener or Whetfins. Some builds don't have to sharpen at all, others can transition 2 phases before needing a sharpen. We can't use our experiences as an objective argument for what players should be doing at the time, though I agree players should go down a quick checklist when a mount is achieved. Sharpen while the creature is mounted, refresh buffs, damage it when you have the opportunity, and then position for the drop. The statement made by the content creator is to NOT hit the monster at all while mounted and this is what I disagree with. This extends fights, and the longer a fight continues the more resources are burned and the greater the chances of someone being carted or fatigue leading to a mistake. After all, the mounter is only dealing 1 damage per stab. And, as stated in my previous comment, this practice was only done in older MH games because you could knock the mounter off the monster. The rule doesn't change much if you have a ranged weapon, instead of sharpening you reload or craft ammunition. However, the individual must weigh the pros and cons of reloading every ammunition in his bowgun, over dealing free damage to a flying monster, whereas a bowman just gets free damage.

Haven't touched the game for a few months, but I loved how clear and concise you made this video. Great stuff.
@Nvoy1236 жыл бұрын
I disagree with the mounting plan. In older games of the franchise, attacking while someone's mounting would knock down the Mounter. However in MHW that doesn't happen anymore. Buffing and sharpening won't take too much time. Lots of players go for the knockdown as soon as they can but for more difficult hunts such as against Behemoth, prolonging how long you ride them for can limit the monster's move set. Works only on monsters that stay on the ground while mounted. Don't stab at them and try to hang on for as long as possible. As long as you have a competent team they should absolutely destroy the monster.
@mitsuokubo15 жыл бұрын
It won't knock down the mounter, but there is a high chance you will knock down the monster, and the monster will only be knocked down for a brief period of time than if the mounter finishes the mount and perform the knockdown attack.

There is nothing wrong with attacking the monster when its mounted just don't apply status ailments or flash it. Using a shock trap for free damage is wasteful if you intend to capture the monster since capturing it yields more materials as well as a means to complete a quest. For dormant powers there is another option for an non-elemental build which is leaving the powers dormant and just increasing the raw power of the weapon.
@Elc226 жыл бұрын
for heavy hitting weapons, elementless is usually the better choice. leave the element/status ailment sealed, and you can boost its raw damage using "non-elemental boost". This is popular with hammers and greatswords. though that is only if you are looking to maximize DPS. you dont need to min/max to play well. "Fashion-hunting" is a popular thing.

@Riyshn6 жыл бұрын
You can carry one each of pitfall and shock traps, so there's not really a harm in using one early to get some free damage in. More, if you bring along crafting materials or are playing multiplayer.
@jermalcromartiepresents57286 жыл бұрын
+Nicholas Warren I was talking specifically about shock traps. Like I said it is a waste to use it to deal extra damage if the objective is to CAPTURE not kill the monster regardless if you're solo or in a group. Each time you use it on the monster the time its paralyzed shrinks. You better off using the pitfall traps to deal the extra damage as these traps don't have a dual purpose. Also capturing it yields more materials and eventually unlocks the rainbow hue for armor that a lot MH veterans covet. Capturing it is also a means to end all non-elder dragon quests.
@Riyshn6 жыл бұрын
Except you can capture with a Pitfall. So using Shock for damage makes more sense (usually), because it deploys faster and leaves you with access to the tail, which Pitfall doesn't.

Great video! I'm already at 500+ hours on ps4 but I still learned a thing or two... although I think it's worthwhile to add, when you mount a monster and the screen starts flashing & the 'move'/'brace' in the top right corner has a yellow rectangle around it, you should move. As far as I can tell, in 9 out of 10 cases it's better to move than to brace (#10 being a brute wyvern, when he's about to do the long jump) and when you hear/see your hunter getting ready for the final blow you can still do a final jump to a different part, when you want to hit it in a certain spot.

For the tempered investigations you can use the armor skills sneak and intimidate to prevent monsters from engaging you, allowing you to follow them around without worry of being spotted. If you're extra paranoid like me, you can take the skill that allows you to walk quicker while crouching. (Crouching reduces your chances of being spotted). With sneak and the crouching skills you can actually sneak behind a monster forever without being spotted. I'm pretty sure monster tracks disappear over time, so it's better (and more interactive) to just follow behind them throughout the quest time limit. You can bring gillie mantle for those "oh shit" moments. Most of this is probably pointless though, because I made a new character last week and now I'm HR60 and have not had to use this method. The only time I did this was when I got to the HR49 Kirin quest since Kirin doesn't even aggro unless you hurt it. I did that for 30 minutes and then killed him. Seems like Capcom buffed the drop rate of investigations and you can now also receive them through monster part breaks, which is amazing.

He never explained why you go around collecting prints for tempered monsters. How does gathering prints give you decos/augs? Also don't you still have to kill monster after collecting otherwise you fail? Sry, I'm still newish to hr.
@xhephergaming6 жыл бұрын
You gather prints to unlock various tempered monster difficulties. Tier 1 monsters give low and medium level decorations. Tier 2 monsters give both medium and high level decorations, as well as items used to augment rarity 7 weapons and a very low chance to get the item for rarity 8 weapons. Tier 3 monsters give less medium and high level decorations than tier 2, but it gives much higher chances to acquire the rarity 7 and 8 items for augment. So in short, start with tier 1 and get a decent amount of decorations, then progress to tier 2 for the best decorations. Then tier 3 when you feel ready to take on tempered elders and require augments to take on arc tempered elders.

Just a beauty video. I played with friends when it first came out so that I could take a break from + rounds of DS3. WOW was I stunned at the complexity and speed. We lasted a couple months before giving up haha. Getting back into it now, it is clear that we failed because we were only utilizing approximately 5% of the functionality! Thanks for the tips!
@DJFlare846 жыл бұрын
The most important advice I'd give to fellow vets is to practice and learn your R-Button functions because for the first time in any MH game we have TWO, and Capcom decided to split up sprinting and special move between them. Previously, they were both on the same button so what the R-Button actually did depended on wether your weapon was sheathed or not. Now, one sprints and the other performs the special weapon action. This has VERY unfortunate consequences, because they will both, by necessity, toggle wether your weapon is sheathed or not. If you're trying to guard against an attack and you accidentally hit sprint instead...

Everything is legit except for that silly statement about not attacking monsters while someone has mounted it. You're SUPPOSED to attack them because they don't focus on anyone but the mounted person. I think you meant to say don't do certain things like Flash Pod or Dung the monster because those things make the mounted person fall off in most cases
@Shyvorix6 жыл бұрын
Note: in older Monster Hunters (4U is a good example) the mounted player was still susceptible to player attacks, so attacking the monster has a high chance of knocking the player down and cancelling the mount. In World, it seems they made the player invincible to other player-related moves and such (except flesh pods). This game changed a core rule (apparently) but was never mentioned so not everyone knows this.
@HazielBlack4 жыл бұрын
exactly, in MHW you are supposed to destroy the monster while its been mounted.

One more thing. Something that annoys me to no end as a greatsword user. Can everyone please stop placing barrel bombs down on a downed monster? The 320 or so damage you'll do with them is far less than the team will be able to achieve by just hitting the monster during that period instead of getting knocked back and having to run back. You'll have plenty of time to use them when the monster is asleep. And when it is asleep, PLEASE don't wake it up if you have a greatsword or hammer user on your team, let them do it.
@dougb21216 жыл бұрын
Calamitous Crow Mega barrel bombs are more useful for breaking parts, than damage. I find them super useful for breaking horns or faces on monsters like Diablos, Kirin, Teostra, Nergigante, Vaal Hazaak, Lunastra, and sometimes Rathalos. That’s what I use bombs for to deliver the breaking blow to body parts.
@CreepingCreeper216 жыл бұрын
doug B I get that, but I still feel a bit annoyed when that tempered kushala is FINALLY on the ground and I'm ready to true charge his face except some guy just randomly places a barrel bomb right under my sword at the start of the combo.

Calamitous Crow what feels bad is when the high damage boys on the team WON'T hit it after you drop the barrels for em especially when im sitting there as the dual sword user waitin for em to hit the thing like a minute or longer

Oh that's a problem.. Almost sounds like bad rapport. In pubs (and people you don't know) this can be a frustrating issue. All I can think of is it would behoove us ALL implementing better communication at the start of hunts, seeing and acknowledging your team composition comprising a hard-hitter(s) that needs to charge, relying on his/her teams' choices, demanding your respect that you work together in tandem with the entirety of the teams' roles in mind. Tell them that you will trigger barrel after they attack. instead of everyone being left out, confused of any sort of cohesion, leaving them all wondering and just clumsily winging it. Just some wisdom I thought i'd share. It's a start, right? Happy huntin' & GL out there! ^ ^

Since then...FFUUUUCCC$@&!!!! Granted I’ve tried only 6-7 more times but every single one has been worst than the previous! It’s like the randoms are getting worse! I won’t lie and say I haven’t carted a couple times but NONE of them have come from that damn ecliptic! It’s not that hard to deal with. Made it to the end of a fight yesterday and when the final meteor hit I was the only one standing. Freakin triple cart in the last second of the damn fight!
