13. AZERBAIJAN to KAZAKHSTAN - Caspian Sea crossing | Round The World on a Fireblade

29 July - 2 August 2019. Part 13 - Caspian Sea crossing Azerbaijan (Alat) to Kazakhstan (Aktau).
Leaving Georgia and crossing into Azerbaijan. Straight through Azerbaijan towards Baku, but the ferry to Kazakhstan actually departs from Alat. Once in Alat, long waits to buy the ticket and finally board the ferry. Luckily I ended up in good company to kill time with! After 2 days wait, ferry crossing took 22 hours, but once docked in Aktau, Kazakhstan it took another 2 hours to get off the ferry and another 7 hours to get through the border. At 4am I was finally let free!

I did that ferry in 2017. It got better with infrastructure in the harbour of Alat then when we have been there. Also the customs procedure was better in Kazakhstan than in 2017.

Very useful video , i can expect what i would find there , after watching this video I think i will not be surprise with any difficults ^^ my question is : did u see any travelers cars shipped by ferry ?? is it easy like motorcycle, or more difficult?

There were serval cars heading to the Mongol Rally but most of them took the ferry to Turkmenistan. But the procedure (or total lack of it) is pretty much the same for cars as for bikes as far as I know.
