You are 100% correct. I lived in Buenos Aires Argentina for nearly 10 years. If you have an income of 1500 to 2000 dollars a month you will live a very comfortable lifestyle indeed and remember Buenos Aires is a truly international city it is a combination of Paris France New York City and Washington DC. But there are other areas in Argentina that can suit any lifestyle. Buenos Aires has all four seasons and there are no natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes. I purchased a home in Mar Del Plata and this is where I plan on retiring. ARGENTINA IS AWESOME 👌 👏.

I've read that Argentina has a double type exchange rate system and that it's sometimes tough to deal with? If you're familiar with it, can you explain it? Thanks.
@markrush23192 жыл бұрын
@@Chris-gi9ch ok let me try and explain it as simply as I can there is an official rate and the so called blue rate the official exchange rate is about 137 pesos to the US dollar and the Blue rate is about 280 pesos to the US dollar Now if you purchase a meal for say 1300 pesos if you use the official rate that meal will cost you around 10 US dollars but if you use the Blue rate that meal will cost you less than 5 US dollars but the restaurant will still just get the 1300 pesos for the bill so it doesn't effect their bottom line whatsoever this goes for everything that you purchase in Argentina. You can send money to yourself from Western Union and pick it up in Argentina they will pay you better than the Blue rate. Never use ATMS in Argentina the fees are high and you can only withdraw a limited amount and it will be at the official exchange rate of 137 pesos per US dollars 💸. I hope this information is useful to you safe travels and stay healthy 😊.

@@markrush2319 I won't go on, and on.......but do businesses "choose" which rate? Or do they notice I'm a foreigner, and try to charge the regular rate if I pay in USD? Can the WU pay out in USD at the local office there? Thanks for your attention! And congrats on your peace and happiness!
@markrush23192 жыл бұрын
@@Chris-gi9ch good questions first of all the Argentina businesses dont care how you exchange your money they will simply present you with a bill and most restaurants are like in Europe they post their prices on their outside windows and you will know exactly what your meal will cost their are no 2 different price lists. But you will find many Argentina businesses will give you a huge discount if you pay in US dollars and to my Knowledge you can't receive US dollars in the Argentina banking system but am not 100% sure of this but you can research and find out I first went to Argentina in 2005 and at that time you could get US dollars from some banks but I think this is no longer the case but some people don't like to carry around large sums of cash money and this is one of the drawbacks of living in Argentina. But for me that is just a very minor inconvenience for me. Also all the prices in the supermarkets are marked and you pay the same as everyone else but if you purchase something on the streets you can pay a higher price if you come off as a foreigner you just have to be careful Buenos Aires is a huge city and their are cons artists.

I love Colombia but decided I can't afford to live there- Retirement income is income Be prepared to pay 36-38% income tax and health insurance is not inexpensive. Real estate is not necessarily an appreciating asset. Like many other countries, most transactions are cash. Easy to buy not so easy to sell They keep messing with the Visa requirements. So for me, it's still a great getaway. I'm close

That’s unrealistic, Columbia is one of the cheapest in latin America. Columbias biggest problem by far is violence and theft.
@redneckpress2 жыл бұрын
I agree --if you don't have to give up 37-38% of your retirement income and pay pretty high premiums for Internationa health insurance I go 4-5 times a year but full-time is too costly. From the tax charts --40,668 to 85,998 USD income 33% Tax so closer to 33% but that a big bite So that takes the cheap out of the equation.

Yeah, I fully agree with you. America is a place where homegrown terrorists storm its house of representatives and (plot to) kidnap governors with a significant degree of popular support, and any idiot can buy a gun and shoot up an elementary school, concert venue or whatever. Over 1.1 million Americans died from COVID due to venal politicians failing to take action for political reasons and moronic anti-vax conspiracy theories (compare that to Japan with only 61,000 deaths, because people have enough brains there to wear masks!) Definitely not a place I'd want to live or raise children in.
