Krishna and Pandavas tried in different ways to change his mind.... no change... Pandavas tried to go away if they r given small lands of their own... Krishna tried to help... all peace talks failed... and only then the situation was setup for war... if Kauravas aren't killed, the people of the kingdom would suffer for long long time... so death of few suffering-imposers is better than the suffering of huge number of innocent people.

Duryodhana is our own depiction and so is arjuna , the clouds of ignorance and maya make our ego blinded lije duryodhana and the willingness to understand leads to path of arjuna, we continuously shift between the two in our day to day life.

@@sarthak8350 Arjuna may be a fighter but nowhere he heard he is a great thinker. He may be, may be not. About brilliant mind : Yeah, a small % of people are born with super sharp intellect. If we are not that, can't do anything but to ignore that aspect. Yet, everything needs practice, including the knack of thinking. Jiddu Krishnamurti said in a talk that those who don't think a lot will have the highest probability to hit alzheimer's diseases during old age because their dead brain cells wouldn't be regularly replaced with healthy ones due to lack of use. So, the more we think the more we (1) overcome laziness to think (2) know the knack of thinking (3) understand the obstacles to thinking, like random unwanted thoughts in a given situation (apart from laziness) (4) impact of excess food intake or less sleep on thinking (5) value of excess knowledge in memory (gained through learning and experiences), and so on. Makes sense?
