Is it not ironic that William Rudley, who played poor old harmless Private Godfrey, was actually a heck of a soldier in his time and probably saw more action than the rest of them put together. He fought in both world wars, and in WW1 was at the Somme, including hand to hand fighting when he got a bayonet wound to the groin and a rifle butt to the head, his legs were riddled with shrapnel and he lost the use of his left hand. Even after all that, he rejoined at the start of WW2 as a commissioned officer and served with the BEF in France before returning on the last overcrowded British ship to escape the harbour in Boulogne, and he still hadn't had enough... he joined the real Home Guard! An extraordinary man and proof that appearances can be very deceiving... maybe because he was also such a good actor!

Arnold Ridley you mean. Everything else you wrote is absolutely correct though Justin. I'm glad someone has pointed this out.

this program is so well written that it lasts the realms of time. I repeatedly watch it and still find it funny . Comedy now is based on shocking you with rudeness or goriness , they base their humor on shocking people into a reaction, you don't need the skills required to write on this level. Dad's Army will always be for me like meeting an old friend and enjoying some time together.

What is happened to the heads of the actors either half their faces or none at all very poorly filmed actually bloody awful it really spoils the series who ever is doing this to these priceless characters ought to get your act together and make sure that these scenes are properly filmed otherwise stop your mucking about or are they pirated copies if they are you should be ashamed of yourself right !!!!

It makes perfect sense, you know how greedy the BBC is, not only are they now charging pensioners for the licence fee they're even possessive over decades old comedy shows so they can continue to pay people like Emily "I'm a virtue signaling SJW" Maitliss enormous amounts of money. Speed the video up to 1.25 and get used to the zoom effect its the only way to stop the video being removed from KZbin.
