Hey, can you please do a video about prop trading, especially how the drawdown follows up with the new max balance. I mean, will you ever be able to withdraw any profit, without risking to blow the account. Also, if I eventually make the challanges on the evaluation, will i have to become a pro trader ? There is so much info missing from the propfirms. With all that said, I am only interested in scalping at 1 and 5 min. Time frames.

@@jonh8488you simply build the buffer profit above the drawdown amount. If the drawdown is $2500 you make that plus $2000 more to withdraw $2000 on a $50k acct size. This leaves you with $2500 in drawdown after the payout.

I agree 100% about a smaller account teaching you to be more disciplined. I still have a small account in Robinhood and my profit percent rate is higher compared to my large account in think or swim that is over $25,000.00 that I use as my main trading account. I believe I’ll improve but I’ve proven to myself it’s easy to over trade.

I trade on margin, but I never trade with more than I can afford to lose. I monitor my cash balance daily and if I only have $500 cash balance then I don’t take a position more than $500. If I grow my cash balance then I can afford to trade bigger positions and likewise if I’m down.

@Ross Cameron When talking about the reset for the PDT flag, what you're describing is the old system where a broker could reset an account up to like 3 times in 90 days or some such, at their discretion. A few years ago, one of the regulatory agencies revised the rules on that, so that a broker is supposedly only allowed to reset the PDT flag on your account, once ever over the entire lifetime of the account.

Apparently Fidelity works the same way. I just got my first Good Faith Restriction last week.. Guess I got caught up in the moment ..took a trade and got a 90 day restriction..But as you said Ross really no big deal..I can only trade on settled cash which is fine.. Loved this video Ross. I have a question tho: I use IBKR and the other day I had to trade this stock with a float less than 1m and I think I bought and sold it a couple of times with maybe 2k share size, at some point I couldn't sell my position. It said something like I have traded it over limit and until they confirm that I am not an insider they restricted me to sell my position. This happened to me on paper trading several times specially when it is lower float stock and I thought it was because I was on paper trading. But the same thing happened with my live trading session with my real money. So I had to wait and wait for sometime and sold it with several broken smaller sizes at lower prices. Do you have any idea about this Ross? Has anyone had the same experience? It was a scary moment.

Was using E-trade and switched over to Thinkorswim, so far it’s been way better to use on the sim. Other than the Lvl 2 not being as good as E-trade, I haven’t had to put $1000 in TOS for real time markets. I had to do that with E-trade. So I’d definitely recommend using charles schwab, for TOS.

I can understand why a halt occurs but I dont understand why it resumes at a different price? That can be really good and really bad at the same time. I would think it should resume at the same price it halted. Can someone help me understand this? Thanks

The price difference is from the actual halt as the stock exceeded a specific % move within an amount of time so if the stock halts up the price changes due to the supply and demand for the stock causing the halt

Something strange happened with my Interactive Broker account. I started a small cash account ($500) and it seems to be settling as soon as I close a position. This really threw me off since I was sure I’d have to wait until everything settled in the AM. Yes, it takes 1 day for your earnings to settle. I use margin accounts for instant funds settlement. You only get to trade the 200 once, and the $10 is available tomorrow. ❤
