Yep, I'd say that new reel works great. Great looking northern!

Love that reel. I found your channel because I’m trying to figure out how to “tune” mine.
@sassafrasoutdoors53662 жыл бұрын
Nice, thank you for the add. I usually start off by putting the break on 3 and get the tensioner dialed in after that. Heavier lures like 5/8 oz or bigger I’ll go to 4 or 5. If you use strait fluorocarbon for the main line it can be tricky too because that stuff is a bit more finicky
@slappinyachettv10942 жыл бұрын
@@sassafrasoutdoors5366 I do use straight fluoro, i’m casting 3/8 oz with it set at three right now. Sometimes casting into the wind, I have to make some adjustments. I live in South Texas, I fish the coast mostly. This is my first time ever to use this particular real, I’ve been using the Diawa coastal and really like them also.

Size in hand, how does this reel compare to the Curado 200K (if you've used that reel)? Thanks!
@sassafrasoutdoors5366 Жыл бұрын
I have not used that reel but I have heard great things about them. I can’t give you an honest comparison though but I’d say being Shimano I would say you can go wrong. I think that reel Is around 100$ more than the concept but I bet it’s pretty sweet to use.

@@sassafrasoutdoors5366 Appreciate it! I have a few of those Curados, was just curious how these are size-wise in comparison.

Hello, I am Rinaldo, nice to meet you :-) can I use this reel with swimbait 3 once or more?what do giù Think? Thanks a lot and have a nice year:-)
@sassafrasoutdoors53662 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! To answer your question I would say yes this reel would work for swim baits. I would say stick with baits that are maybe 1oz or less. Anything heavier you have a better chance at burning the gears out after a while. If you want to throw the bigger swim baits go with the 13fishing Concept A3. It’s the bigger and more beefed up version and is made for heavier lures. I use an A3 for bigger swim baits and it’s a great option. It is however almost double in price but totally worth it. I hope that gets you in the right direction, have a great 2022!!!

Have you been using straight Sufix flora advance on all your reels ? I’m thinking about changing to it and ditching braid.
@sassafrasoutdoors5366 Жыл бұрын
It depends on the lure I’m using. I use fluorocarbon for my crank bait and jerk bait rods and braid or mono for my top water rods.
@brett_Thorpe Жыл бұрын
@@sassafrasoutdoors5366 ok thanks. I was thinking of going all out with Advance floro for everything. Do away with braid and tying knots all the time. Seems like sufix advance floro would be the line to go too ?
@sassafrasoutdoors5366 Жыл бұрын
Yeah like I said for me it depends on the lure I’m using but fluorocarbon is a great line to use. If you’re going to use it on a spinning reel, spool the reel up, take the spool off the reel and let the spool sit in hot water for a minute or two. That’ll prevent the line from flying off the reel or twisting up and bird nesting.
@benjaminzijerveld2 жыл бұрын
why would you still fish without a steel leader when this pike already bit your lure off before? pike normally do not care about the visibility of the leader
@sassafrasoutdoors53662 жыл бұрын
That set up is mainly for bass. The pike just happen to be there. I have a combo for pike now that I have a 6 inch steel leader on now.

@@sassafrasoutdoors5366 I was literally thinking about getting one I have been stressing about a rod to get I have the same reel but mine is 6:8.1 gear ratio would that size of rod and everything be good for that reel still
@sassafrasoutdoors53662 жыл бұрын
@@ShadowSnpr absolutely, there’s nothing wrong with the slower gear ratio. If anything the slower ration gives you more torque. I use the higher ratio because I like to use crank bait a lot and it’s nice having the higher ratio but you won’t have any issues
@ShadowSnpr2 жыл бұрын
@@sassafrasoutdoors5366 okay now I like chatter baits lipless crank baits I really wanna try jigs this summer but with those be good for a 6:8.1 gear ratio
@sassafrasoutdoors53662 жыл бұрын
@@ShadowSnpr yup lipless and chatter baits are good with that but if you are using a jig thats fine too but if you’re fishing heavy cover with a jig the faster ratio is better for getting those fish out and away from brush and weeds better. It’ll still work fine but the higher ratio will have a little more advantage there.
